Is it possible to get a good pickup group for vet dungeons?

I have always seen the same result with them. If the group is composed of my guildmates, we rock the dungeon and move on. But my guild is a PvP-focused one, so our PvE groups are rare. I'm about to outlevel veteran Spindleclutch. So, that brings me to pickup groups.

Every. single. one. that I have been a part of, one of two things happen: It disbands immediately or everybody knows each other except for me, they wipe, and they blame me. My ignore list grows.

I'd listen to their criticisms if they ever said anything that isn't already known to be untrue. "Only templars can be healers." "Sword and shield can't DPS." "Just use AoE taunt." Yeah, it's that bad.

Is there a trick to finding functional groups for these things?

My experience is that you have to keep on trying:). I am only V2 atm but doing the first veteran dungeons with mostly PUG's.

Sometimes you get lucky and you find a very good group and everything works pretty well. For instance, the evry first time I finished the veteran Banished Cells i was in a group of 3 V1's and a V2. Everything worked perfectly well then even though it was our first run in that vet dungeon. We died a couple of times but nothing serious.

On the other hand, sometimes you get in a group that cant even kill the trash and disbands quickly.

Probably the best option would be (note to myself as well) to friend those with whom the runs are smooth and easy. This way you can ask them the next time and who knows, that might be the beginning of a friendship:).

Unfortunately, I have not done this yet and I probably missed out a few good tanks/dps. I will start friending these ppl and see what happens:).

I'm V3 and still only done Banished Cells, I have some time on prime time today and hope to atleast get a few runs in Spindle. I've done 15-20 attempts at Banished Cells all in PUG from the group finder. I would say 75% of the time we clear the dungeon.

It's usually not that bad but ofcourse there are some days when the *** hits the fan and just spread and never stops. I had 3 bad teams after each other once who didn't manage to clear the dungeon.

My biggest gripe is that I usually don't play that much straight at prime time, but a few hours after, and then the dfinder is often dead. I play as tank and expect to find a team instantly on a megaserver even if it's a couple hours after prime time.

Right after posting this last night, I got a group who stuck with it. I've found that I can keep up with the groups who nail these things, but I don't really mind the groups who don't. We got to the last boss of Spindleclutch and wiped over and over trying to get the achievement where you don't kill the innocents. We got very close a few times, and eventually just forgot the achievements, wiped out his captives, and took him down.

Some seem to think of that as a bad experience, but I don't. I'd rather be with a group who fails but doesn't give up than a group who just runs at the first sign of difficulty. That's supposed to be a part of challenging content, after all -- if it is nailed perfectly the first time though then it wasn't a challenge.

Giving up is the only failure. Giving up and casting blame is failure plus denial. I've had team mates disconnect mid-dungeon before, seen the team pick up the slack for them, and then they'd come back. One person can not be to blame for a group's failings -- it's the sum effort that is to credit, win or lose.

With this thread, I was kind of hoping to find that there is a zone typically used for /zone recruiting for groups or something like that. But luck of the draw it is! This must just be part of the growing pains involved in a game friendly to MMO newcomers. They'll come around eventually.

Could you imagine if death had an xp penalty in this game like in EQ? lol the MMO newcomers don't really know how good they have it with this title.

Ive had multiple people come in, basically say a variation of "Ugh DKs cant be healers l2p noob" and leave. Makes me laugh everytime.

Always pays to have a guild full of people you know .. rather than just a bunch of warm bodies to fill ranks. This is exactly why my guild will never have more than 75 members .... so we all know each other ... and we all feel accountable for our actions. People tend not to bail on groups of players they are actually friendly with. So my advice to you sir is to find a good guild. Not mine unfortunately .. we all have kids and stuff .. not many vets. GL and have fun!

Improve your own build and you won't even need other people to be in the dungeon with you.

Here is a video of a veteran dungeon being cleared start to finish with only two people. We've done it for all 6 dungeons now, and only 2 of the bosses proved very difficult.

Your ignore list is wasted on those guys, they provide you with entertainment, you can read what they have to say, then look back on it and laugh at them because most of what they said was complete nonsense.

There's no trick.

It's just like in rea life trying to meet cool people.

The only way to make it happen is to struggle through the morons tell you find those rare talented, good people.

Just a numbers game, keep at it and eventually you'll find some good ones, put those on your friends list/in your guild and build up a list to eventually get it where your getting lots of good runs in.

I've had pretty nice luck with it early on. Met lots of great players. Later in the VR levels 1-4 I found my share of terrible ones too, but eventually found enough of the better ones that didn't have to worry about pugging much more in that nasty level range.

And you can /tell me in game, I'm always running well executed dungeons... And I find most players on that posts on forums are generally of the better half.

Though I've already put in the time to find lots of great players I run with, so my groups are very frequently full these days, but you never know, I might have a spot.

Dont forget ESO might have one of the most difficult skill cap so far.
Using a wrong build wont get you anywhere.
Using the wrong gear gimps your gameplay.
Using a wrong rotation gimps you even more.

Most mmo players are quit bad....
The mainstream players hitting VR1+ might even quit.

I love the players who go out there and show that skill does matter and show us that what might be impossible for you is easy for another.

Now if Zenimax would fix the wrongs in ESO i think this is one hell of a killer mmo.
But they will lose a big chunk of players who are frustrated and rage quit after dying 25 times

If this game was easy i would have quited already ^^
No need for a mind numbing 1 button monkey mmo again.

This is maybe the worst mmo ever made for group pve. You are not going to find many skilled players. I imagine most have gotten bored and quit.
