Why does shields and weapon automatically disappear when you mount ?

Hello there, didnt really know how to post something here, posted in german by mistake. So when you use your mount, your weapon and your shield ( maybe 2 handed and staffs,too ?) automatically hide ( not unequip or something, just "invisible"). Is that a bug ? Does it happen to staffs and 2 handed, too ?

This is not a bug; nor is there currently any plan to change this. I agree though that it would be a nice modification.

I thing it looks pretty much better if you see your weapon all the time, skyrim was also like that, but there you could use and addon.

I'll have to play with it more but it seems from what I recall sometimes weapons would show and sometimes not. It could be just a bug (like the art is still present but not always triggered).

I don't have a solid for why, but my guess would be clipping issues. Shorter weapons may not have them, but I could definitely see my resto staff clipping into my horse if it didn't turn invisible. Probably a design choice to just make the weapons unseen rather than have them clip through the horse. Not saying I agree or disagree with it. I honestly have no preference on this one.. seeing it would be cool but not seeing it doesn't bother me.

Agree , weapons and even the second weaponset shoould be visible to some extend.

For example wielding a 2H weapon (staff/bow/2 h melee) and you are using your second weapon set which consist of 1h+shield the 2h weapon should be holstered on the back.

Vice versa a sword should be sheated at the side and the shield should be on the back when the other weaponset is being worn.

Weapons visible while riding is a request to implement an even more immersed feeling.

adition to game mechanics:
Mount&Blade Warband introduced that you gain additional directional back armor when you put your shield on your back.

But then again M&B does have a weight system which slows you down, I do not recommend that in ESO because the fighting system is so different.

But it does look cool wielding something 2H and your shield is hanging on your back.

Very annoying to have your weapons and shield disappear when you mount. Although the other day I toggled off my helmet while mounted and my sword and shield magically reappeared until the next time I mounted my horse.

Whenever a game tries to render weapons on a mounted player it rarely works right in my experience, clipping and other graphics artifacts always make something look silly.

...but it makes you a kind of "naked", too. In wow p.e. they did not care, but it looked fantastic with shield and 1hand. A big staff speared the mount of course, that looked pretty ugly. So think there will not be a solution

Would be cool to mount your weapons on your mount.

There's a simple fix for that. If you want your weapons to show while mounted, just stand on your horse instead of sitting. As depicted in following beta screenshot:

They did it because a lot of weapons / shields would just go through the horse and that would be tremendously ugly. I wish they would hang them on the side or something of the sort.

And people want cloaks? If Zen don't like the clipping of weapons, they sure will be hard to please with cloaks that clip and starch
