Simple mechanics question. Can you have negative resistances?

Just wondering because this definitely changes the viability of certain abilities. For example, sorcs elemental weakness = - 40% elemental resist. If can on something that has 0 fire resist, what sort of damage returns can you expect from fire effects?

Also wondering if negative spell resist on a Mob is possible. And does it result in to more damage?

Deduction in % from base is not going into negative from a logical mathematical point of view, ever.
Can't say have ZOS math works though, their + percentage bonuses are not working, so they might manage the impossible

Negative resistance is weakness.

A lot depend on how this work, normally buffs and debuff is added together so +30%+10%+20%=60% resistance is 60% not 1.3*1.1*1.2=1.71 or 71%

weakness is the opposite of resistance, an vampire with 60% fire protection will have 10% after his weakness is subtracted.
