I can see the point. We may all be in Wayrest at the inn RPing but we won't be in the same phase because that's how this game works. There should be an RP phase that people can select. It shouldn't be "Travel to player"; it should be "travel to phase".

the whole point of a mega server is to not have seperate servers.

the best thing we can do is hope for specific Rp phases.

I've never seen people "crying about someone's name". They usually just won't interact with you. They won't "cry".

This game really needs more support for its role-players, because the cool kid raider d00ds aren't going to be the one to keep this game alive, I promise you that. It's going to be the immersion loving lore hounds and role players, not the WoW raiders who are just all waiting in line to take a trip into Funny Land in Wildstar next month.

The best option I've seen by far for roll players are the RP guilds. You have a dedicated guild chat channel, you have the GM and their officers to set and enforce a 'rules' set. They can exile players who fail to follow such rules via /gkick. For the player who wants this environment simply consider channels outside of this to be locked to permanently out of character style chat.

RP is not my cup of meat to be honest, far too many negative experiences with individuals who have attempted to use it as excuse to harass other players mercilessly. But if you genuinely want to participate in such activity then simply join up with any one of the existing RP guilds or form your own if the ones currently running don't suit your style of play. The point is there are viable options out there to facilitate what you want without resorting to further segregating the player base. And yes we are most certainly segregated NA/EU and once Zenimax finally launches them each of the other platforms will each have their own segment of the player base presumably based again around a setup of NA/EU meaning we'll end up with six distinct servers. Adding separate RP to that list would mean we'd have a dozen pieces of the pie to maintain. Uh, yeah I really don't see that happening.

The OP doesn't even have anything to do with RPing. Addons do not affect RPing. If people want to use them, and I am guessing that even many RPers do, then that is their business, not yours. It is not like RPers have a hive mind and all want and believe the same things. I can see adding things that improve the ability to RP, for those that want to. On the other hand the option to use addons is a personal choice that everyone can make for themselves.

I would greatly appreciate "something" for RP. We were harassed tonight by certain folk this evening in the midst of our RP session and I found it quite annoying.

Being a fellow RPer, if I see people RPing in game, I respect the fact that they are playing the way they wish and I will not interrupt (Even though I may add to that RP in passing by simply acknowledging a wave or a "Well met, traveller")

To begin dancing on tables calling your members homosexual for RPing is out of order in my opinion...

That is pure harassment toward the people that want to play the game their way.

I had to say something here as that situation ruined our session and I guess those people will be very happy for it.

Edit in hindsight: We do not wish to use our guild chat as a RP channel simply because of the @handle situation. Our character names do not show there. I have decided now upon commencing a RP session we will do it in a group where it cannot be seen in "zone"

But, may I add..where does that leave emotes to express actions? /e still is displayed in general (ie. /zone)

Not sure if this was suggested already, but maybe you could have the option to change your name to a different color, like purple, if you RP. That way people know outright.

It was obvious we were in RP. I have seen groups in RP and knew it. They knew fully we were in RP, hence the harassment that commenced.

Woops, sorry! I was talking about an alternative to having an RP server. But yeah, people are ***. It's a shame others can't just leave people to do their own thing.

i have not had issues RPing on ESO, i have learned to ignore skill spammers, and those who act stupid. Some times we add them as the idiot of the town...or at times idiots lol.

What you may want to do is create a RP guild. That way YOUR community within ESO consists of likeminded players.

If you create one, message me. I'd love to join!

We have had some players who thought it would be fun to try and ruin our guild events which we RP. They quickly found their accounts on our ignore lists.

While I don't think that the whole RP Server thing is ever going to happen (but I would be totally open to it), I do think there should be some way to identify other roleplayers. I like the whole Private RP Chat idea, but how would people know if you're joining the chat to say "Talimwe sips a pint of mead" or to say "HAHAHA U R LOZERS RP IS FOR GEEKS LOZERS BUY GOLD" We could ban them from the chat as they come up, but unfortunately the idiot population is larger than the roleplayer population, so more would just take their places. I am currently part of a RP guild, and it's pretty awesome.

Aren't we all "role-playing" by default? None of us are actually Templars or sorcerers etc.

I've been on Emerald Dream (RP-PvP) in WoW since 2005 when it went up. I have a level 90 Warlock and tons of alts there. I have never yet even ONCE seen a single roleplayer on that server, ever. They have never even said a single sentence in /trade or /local or any chat that I have ever seen. Sorry, but you're full of it.

And I played for over a year on one of Rift's original open PvP-RP servers and never saw even one single line of RP chat there either. About the only RP I have ever witnessed was in City of Heroes on Virtue server, which was only considered "the unofficial RP server of CoH." And only a handful of times at that.

And if they're hiding in a guild chat or sticking to an inn when no one else is there in WoW or wherever else, sorry, but you can do that in ESO here on the megaserver too just fine. You don't need a separate server for that, not that you'll ever get one in ESO anyway because you won't.

And frankly, Zenimax has way bigger fish to fry anyhow. Between being overrun with botters and gold farmers, the "teaming with the chevrons" nonsense, the console editions of ESO not running right, the lack of any sort of real in-game auction house and of course the bugs (not to mention all the bad reviews and P.R. over same), the last thing they should be doing is considering an RP server for the few whiners who want one. They'll be lucky if the sole NA megaserver they already have doesn't wind up empty, never mind putting up any more.

Theres always those wishful thinkers in the RP community that just cant accept that theyre apart of a niche community. And dont have the collective numbers to create the demand for a separate megaserver.
