Any outgoing damage breaks invisibility, even dot ticks and aoe pulses?

Is this working as intended? As a NB my invisibility becomes worthless when using any of the very large number of skills that either pulse aoe or have a dot component.

I just finished extensive testing and any outgoing damage of any kind will break invis. Poison arrow, crippling grasp, scorched earth, refreshing path, blood craze, cleave, veil of blades. All of them break invis with a single tick essentially preventing effective invis for their duration even if they are cast long before you try to use invis.

I thought that only sprinting or activating an ability was supposed to break invis (or being hit of course). Having any residual damage tick on even one enemy breaking it renders invisibility, and thus a key component of NB gameplay, pointless.

I'm talking about OUTGOING damage here. Any incoming damage, including dot ticks, obviously breaks invis as expected.

Could you imagine how much rage that would get in PvP?

If outgoing damage didn't break stealth you could kill people without them having a clue what was killing them.

There would be huge outcry for nerfs.

I'm not talking about activiating abilities here...activating an ability obviously breaks stealth as it should. I'm talking about residual dot ticks. Using an ability with a 10 second dot means you can't go invis for the next 10 seonds. Now take into consideration how many abilities in this game have a dot component.

I'm curious what other nightblades out there are doing. Are you avoiding using any dot abilities or do you just not bother with invis?

To be honest I hadn't noticed invisibility breaking unless I used a skill, but I will check it out tonight. Pretty sure i have remained invisible after using poison arrow on mobs. Are you sure it isn't you with a DoT on youself that is breaking it due to damage being taken?

If it's the case as you describe, then i guess I won't use DoT in PvP
Who has time? But if we never take time how can we ever have time?

I hadn't noticed it either. I changed specs today and immediately noticed it happening. My testing was on a rooted melee solo mob to ensure I wasn't being hit. Both poison arrow and crippling grasp ticks broke invis. This was with the +crit morph of cloak. I previously was using the cleanse morph and never noticed this happening. I guess it could be a morph specific bug.

I don't think existing Dots from past actions should hinder your ability to stealth......thats just wrong.
Ofc, I can completely agree that any action you take should break it....either attacking with physical/magical weapons or using skills (or sprinting).

So..I think this is something Zenimax should look into & adjust if it turns out that existing DoT's / AOE's are hindering stealth.

Stealth is there for us to either get In and do insane burst or try to get the hell out of a fight. The DOT skills are there more for hindering and annoying people than damage. I do agree that if used them before entering stealth they should not break stealth maybe just remove the DOT from the target. Using any attack skill from stealth is perfectly ok.
