ESO Dungeon Guide for the Total Newbie?

Hello!

My search-fu has failed me, both on Google and the forums here. I am confused about the Dungeon system. Specifically, the phased, private dungeons like Spindelclutch.

I think I know some answers, but my preconceived ideas from other MMORPG's probably cloud the issue. So I'll simply ask and not add what I think the answer is.

1) Is the group limit 4 players?
2) Do the dungeons have lock out timers?
3) Looting: Does everyone get separate loot? (I don't want to be a ninja)
4) How do I go to dungeons in different factions?
5) I accidentally formed a group for Spindelclutch, not even sure how it occurred. Does ESO automatically group you with other players?
6) Do the dungeons have level limits? Can I go back to Spindelclutch at level 20?
7) What is some common etiquette advice you can give me?
8) How can I be the best team member possible? ( I am DPS)

I realize that's a lot of questions, thank you in advance for anyone who can help.

Sincerely,

Hellhound

    1) Yes, at least until Craglorn, when 12-player Trials get introduced.
    2) No.
    3) Yes, same as in the world.
    4) Once you've completed your faction's dungeon for a specific level range, the other two dungeons will appear on your map. You can teleport to them just as you would any other wayshrine.
    5) Yes. When you enter the Group Finder tool, you will automatically join up with other players as they enter the queue. It doesn't group everyone together at once.
    6) Yes and no. There is a limit to when you can use the Group Finder tool to get a group together, but you can enter a dungeon at any level. Bear in mind that you will not receive XP or loot from any enemies that are >5 levels below you.
    7) I find that it's generally nice to not take loot from a chest if it would be better for someone else in the group. Let them know, and they can take it if they need. Although this will be irrelevant when they roll out the fix for chests in dungeons to make them give out loot to everyone individually.
8.) Block, dodge, interrupt: they aren't just for tanks anymore. Use your debuff and CC skills as well. This isn't WoW, so don't just focus on spamming damage abilities, because you will get your group killed. Oh, and if you don't know the mechanics of a fight, ask.

One last thing as a damage dealer: talk to your tank and healer about what they want you to do. It is often your job to take out adds, healers, CCers, etc. asap. Communicate and coordinate. This isn't like other MMOs, where a tank can just sit in one spot with all aggro on him... the mobs here will fight smart. So fight smart back.
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

To add to what nerevarine already said

I find it's good etiquette to call out treasure chests and try to make sure everyone in the party gets to open an equal amount. They don't just provide loot. There's also xp for opening them. Of course afterwards, feel free to share the bounty with others who might make good use of them. I also link in group chat any drops I won't use. Group members get first dibs. Afterwards, all unclaimed things go towards guild bank or extraction.

And that last point about block, dodge, and interrupt cannot be stressed enough. Even a tank with a taunt slotted cannot hold aggro on every mob in the room. Rather they can keep the boss off of the squishiest members. However, you will have lots of adds to contend with. Keep out of AOE (red circles on the ground). Some can be a one hit kill to squishy players. Likewise if you are using Stamina heavily, try to save enough in your bar to perform at least one timed block. A lot of bosses have charged up power attacks that will one hit kill light/medium armor users if unblocked.

EDIT: In the event of death, players cannot revive themselves while combat is ongoing. However, they can be revived by other party members. This can be really helpful to prevent a full wipe. Say your healer just died to the boss. Have someone else take aggro and kite the boss away from their corpse. Within a few feet of the corpse, hold (E or F... I don't remember which but it will pop up) and you can res your healer, provided you have an appropriate filled soul gem.
