Dragon Knight dps build for PVE.

Hi guys,

I am looking to use a dps build like this (see below and sorry for the massive link) and I had a few questions about it.

Namely I was wondering if the fact I am using heavy armor would be a serious loss of dps since I am not using the medium armor bonuses. Or is it hardly noticeable? Or would I really need to go 5/2 split?

Also how is this build? Anybody used something like this? My focus is PVE.

7 piece heavy in my opinion is overkill. 5 piece is plenty and if it were me I'd go 5 medium 2 heavy. With the exception of charge and magnum shot (use the other morph, you don't want to be knocking yourself back into death circles or in front of cleaving mobs your friends are cleaning up) you're light in CC. I'd take the stonefist power for a knockdown.

Your first link, increased CC doesn't work for me so no comment. However, for your second.. I'm a Dunmer dual-wield DK and can give you my thoughts on what you have for the PvE dps build you've linked.

- Why have a tank-type ultimate on a DPS bar? Standard of Might is the choice unless you have Flawless Dawnbreaker unlocked.
- Your bar is dominated by single target skills. If you want to solo/farm then you need some AoE. I would suggest you re-work the entire bar; that's not meant to be a flame it is just my honest, experienced, thoughts on it.

There are a number of things which make this build work. Firstly, I use Ashen Grip daggers (fire damage runes) with the belt being the third (light belt and hat). The dual-wield and class passives are HIGHLY important. Ruffian, Kindling, World in Flame and the Dunmer racial Flame Talent for dps and Burning Heart, Elder Dragon passives for some health. The basic chain of attack is Volatile Armor (when you are in the middle of the mobs.. stick with the caster if he backs out), Burning Talons and Whirling Blades x2 or x3.

Many people misunderstand the Whirling Blades skill. Straight out to start it is HORRIBLE! The damage vs. the amount of stamina it costs is just pathetic. However, "damage is increased versus enemies with low health" is what you need to remember. The initial hit from Volatile damages all the mobs that are close to you, hence get to the middle of the group. Burning Talons damages all the mobs once again and adds a nice fire DoT (which your passives pump).. most importantly though it IMMOBILIZES all the targets which triggers the Ruffian passive (15% more damage.. I'll take that anyday). At this point the mobs have taken a good amount of damage already and Whirling Blades hits hard; the second and third hit like trucks vs. the stamina cost and this is where Whirling Blades shines.

This is long enough so I'll end it here. Gear yourself with some damage sets in addition.

Yeah I don't want happened there. But honestly I have decided against it already.

Looks pretty good actually, particularly given how you explained it works

Also just for clarification is this bar you are suggesting I replace my second bar with? Or that I should start over entirely with both bars and use this link as foundation?

And what sort of stat distribution do you use for that? 2:1 Stam:HP?

Any thoughts? The second bar is aoe based with Armor for defence if things get hairy otherwise I can swap in Standard.

Well, my belief is that you need to play ESO how you want to play ESO. Construction and usage of bars is entirely up to you; I just wanted to pass along my experiences with DK PvE. Regarding my stat distribution.. I share my points equally across all 3 pools currently. That will change at endgame, obviously, but for leveling and quest grinding I've had zero problem to this point.

I like your second bar, although it is very stamina heavy. I'm focused on maxing my dual-wield, and leveling Vampire skills, before looking toward either bow or d-staff for secondary.
