Enchanting Hireling no longer delivering Potencies
I've been suspicious that ever since I put the final point in Potency Improvement, my enchanting hireling no longer sends me potencies. I confirmed it today. I opened a enchanting sack on an alt and there was a potency relevant to the lvl of the alts enchanting skill. In the 4 bags I've gotten in the last two days on my main, there have been no potencies.
This is brutal, as I put all the work into getting my enchanting up as fast as I could to make money selling end-game enchants, but since my character is only V3, I have no way to get t9s outside of hireling bags. Should I open a ticket or just wait until the patch hits?

This is RNG. It is luck based. It is impossible to tell if it is broken or if you are only unlucky based on only four bags.Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.1 -
Malediktus✭✭✭✭No, it proofs something. Enchanting hirelings always send a potency rune (at least for me), but always one tier above I can use. So if he can use max tier runes the hireling tries to send him runes which do not exist, hence no potency runes for him.

Yeah, what I proved was it wasn't just across my account, it was specific to one character. Hirelings have always giving me a potency rune of some variety in every bag I've gotten since the first day of early access.1

But others have reported on a glitch that when you add points to your crafting improvement or hireling skills, you do seem to get less than before, just to let you know, since that might be part of the problem.

I'm guessing it's a bug, because it's now been three days without a potency, and I always used to get one. I don't buy that it's random, and it definitely started happening when I upgraded the final level of my hireling. I submitted a ticket about it, hopefully that will get some answers...probably in a week or so.1

I get 1-2 most times, rarely 3, and occasionally the bag simply disappears without giving me anything, which is especially annoying when it happens to multiple bags a day.0 -

I had the magic disappearing bag happen to me 3 times in a row. When I submitted a ticket, I got 1 bag restored. It wasnt that big of a deal, so I didnt push it. I can understand your frustration. It seemed to only happen with enchanting bags too. Its not really, its just you get it after you log on that toon's Hireling after more than 24 hours after you took it the time before.1 -
Just to update: it's been almost a week with no reply for customer support. Not inspiring, to say the least. Additionally, a friend who just got 9/9 in potency improvement immediately encountered the same bug, where his enchanting bags stopped containing potency runes.

I would confirm that as well. From my experience, enchanter's hireler used to send potency runes 1 level higher than your skill. Say, if max potency runes you could use were lvl5, then hireler chests would contain lvl6 potency runes. That is still the case on my alt. Every day i get 8 potency runes. However, on my main, who is lvl 42 enchanter, i receive 8 chests and 0 potencies for like a week or so now. Has support ticket yielded anything?PC-NA @Eon-King1

Nothing. I have been completely ignored, as clearly it's a widespread bug and they have no idea how to fix it. In the meantime, you can set your Potency Improvement skill to 8/9 and get bags w/ lvl 9 potencies. You can't actually use them, but at least your enchanting bags won't go to waste. Hopefully whatever changes happen to hireling bags in the Craglorn patch resolve this issue.1

dtere1_ESOSoul ShrivenI will also confirm that you get current potency improvement + 1 level for potency runes from hirelings. I am currently at 8/9 for potency improvement. I am at level 39 enchanting, so i am glad i stumbled on this thread... as 9/9 potency improvement isn't even usable to me as i am VR2.
I normally always get 1 potency + 1 essence + 1 aspect rune in each of my enchanting bags. The potency rune is always one level beyond what my current is.
How hard of a fix is this... just give us the potency rune of our current level instead of +1 level.0 -
Ashlynne✭✭✭At VR10 with max Potency spec, I NEVER get a Potency rune........ ever. It just stopped. I'm on the "it's a bug and needs to be fixed" train. I used to get a Potency rune that was 1 lvl above me. Not any more. Now I get multiple essence runes. Sometimes I get an empty bag. If my hireling works so hard and goes through the trouble to send me an in game mail, I would expect the bag to contain something. One more bug...Edited by Ashlynne on May 12, 2014 8:44PM1

I've gotten all three types, and it can be any two, or even all three, but f it continues send in a bug report.My hireling always give me two random runes. I believe I never got 1 essence rune from my hireling.

I think it is a good idea not to lvl your potency improvement to 9 unless you are VR8-9-10 already. Glyphs of that high potency dont sell very good at the moment, but at least you'll be getting upt to 8 potency 9 runes a day from hireler before the nerf in expasion. I used to constantly get POTENCY +1 Level above what I was until VR8 ranks. NOW I'm not seeing ANY POTENCY runes (VR8-VR9 now)
I opened 8 Enchanters Boxes on my MAIN VR9 with 9/9 on Enchanting (Level 42) and 3/3 Hirelings.
Eight (8) Enchanters Boxes- 8 Essence
- 8 Aspect
- 0 Potency (ZERO, NADA, ZILCH)

I also have a ticket in. I have multiple alts & stopped counting after 25 hireling deliveries gave no potency drops

Sadae✭✭✭FFS! This is a pretty big deal, as level 9 Potency runes aren't easy to get. My hireling was my only source! I just hit max level, and the first bag I opened only had a crappy Aspect rune and nothing else. I was like, "WTF? I have ALWAYS received a Potency rune before! And this time I got nothing."
Knowing how we always got a Potency rune of our current level +1, I immediately saw the opportunity for a bug at max level, so I did a search, and sure enough I found this thread.
PLEASE don't shove this to the bottom of the "too look at" list. This is a big deal. Fix this please!0
