A stack of any refined material, no matter what level is 400 gold to a vendor. 100 iron ingots is the same as 100 high iron ingots, is the same as 100 spider silk, or 100 sanded maple. This is not so much a problem in itself though it's kind of strange.
Where I see the main economic problem is the same unrefined material has less value to a vendor however is arguably more valuable than the refined material. The reason is in refining there is a chance to produce enhancement material.
So after extracting the good stuff the product increases in value.
