Sorc Destruction and Restoration?

I currently use Destruction Staff, I just hit level 15 and was wondering if I choose Restoration Staff as my second weapon, will I be gimping myself?

I would like to be able to join instances as either a dps or a healer. I am worried I will end up being a horrible dps and underwhelming healer.

Any advice or thoughts?

As long as you take the required passives you will be able to do both jobs. And with a change in your slotted skill line up you'll be able to go pure dps or heals.

You can do whichever one. If you get restoration staff you can unlock the weapon abilities and become a healer or stick to destruction staff and DPS. So if you want the ability to heal then no your "gimping" yourself, whatever that means.

I use Resto staff on my main single target DPS bar.

Its possibly the best ranged DPS weapon for single target in the game (bow is better than stealth) while Desto is better for AoE.

You just need to build for it right. Let me give you some hints. Circle of Life gives you a flat buff to ALL DAMAGE. Combat Prayer serves as a self heal, group heal, self buff to armor and spell resist, group buff to the same, and one of the morphs gives you an 8sec buff to ALL DAMAGE.

That means you just load up class skills on that bar (for damage) and Combat Prayer.
