Examine/Search Functions

This question(s) may have already been presented on a previous post and I simply missed it, so forgive me if this is redundant to some.

Is there a /function that allows you to examine other players to check their gear, to either check to see what is available out there or to make sure someone you are grouping with isn't contributing properly?

Now I realize some are going to jump on this as to say, "Why do you want the same features of every other MMO?" Blah. Well, some features of other MMOs I REALLY like. I'm old and have played MMOs since EverQ release, so I'm going to just come out with it and say what most others actively try to deny: Most players in MMOs get great gear just to show it off, bragging rights, epeen, whatever you want to call it. It's one of the major draws to bring players back to log in (and pay) again and again and again....obtaining that next new thing so you can stand around in town and AFK while others drool over your threads. If there in fact IS a way to examine others, please let me know, but I haven't figured it out yet if there is.

Also, it's hard to form decent, well balanced close to level groups for things without being able to search for certain available players with the job/level you need. Simply /zone or /yell shouting is not a very effective way to find proper group members. I've been in dungeon parties with some players in the group level 25 and others at level 10...I don't want to spend my online time piggy-backing someone's pal who just started the game or their mule through dungeons just to watch them running after every chest to unlock it while I'm fighting everything.

No, there is no gearcheck. That is completely intentional, because you can't actually tell how effective a player would be from their gear, but some players from certain games that shall remain unnamed might not understand that yet. So denying them a gearcheck is like therapy.

Lol, I don't play WoW if that's what you are suggesting. Hated the community. But I've played multiple other MMOs and I like to be able to gearcheck. And the argument has been presented for years, "gear doesn't make the player..." but unfortunately, sometimes it helps, alot. When a lvl 30 player is rocking level 10 gear because they are either too cheap or too lazy to improve their character, I feel I have no obligation to carry them through content.

Also, it shows me they at bare minimum put some amount of effort into their toon, which if going by percentages, does tell me the quality of the player. It's not 100%, always going to be that player here and there that sucks but has friends so they have awesome gear. But for the most part, great gear usually equates to at bare minimum a decent player.

But aside from looking at the gear level in this game, an inspection wouldn't tell you anything. Also, there aren't any players at level 30 running around in level 10 gear. The game has a fairly punishing leveling curve, and most players find themselves upgrading gear every 2-3 levels.
