ESO Wants BOT subscriber money!

metaldrummer1962b14a_ESO
if they did not they could have banned the boss camping bots in 2 seconds, but they do not. Way to go....
For every bot subscription they do not ban they lose several player subs.

Wrong, they don't get subscriber money. They mostly use stolen credit cards to get the accounts in the first place. So what happens, they get paid and then they get unpaid when the owner of the credit card reports all the false charges. The gold spammers/botters know they don't need the account for more than a day or two so they don't worry when they get banned because it's more likely the person won't notice for over a week.

    /sigh

    1) Botters/gold-sellers don't use legitimate accounts. They compromise accounts, or they use stolen credit cards to set up throwaways.
    2) ZO (and every other developer) loses money by having to dedicate personnel to bots/gold-selling accounts. That's salary money which could have gone towards game development.
    3) Bots happen in every game. Are you claiming that every developer does this?
    4) Security is reactive. ZO can't predict how the next botting program will work around their security.
    5) Banwaves don't happen until the bots themselves are broken. If they aren't, then there's no point in banning them because... Botters don't use legitimate accounts.

I can't tell either. His post history is full of crap like this, but he seems to sincerely believe it.

My take is that he's trolling and I bet that he doesn't even know a thing about the adverse effect of gold spammers and bots have on an mmo such as TESO...

well of course they want their money! they want our money, hence they do this for a living!
i have noticed a sharp decline in the numbers of farmers and spam over last few days. for obvious privacy reasons, they are not going to post lists of banned bots or any other details relating to banned accounts.
Clearly, there are players among us who are buying the gold because the people running these outfits wouldn't keep forking out for new accounts otherwise.
the SotG letter mentions that about 85% of the CS tickets relate to Gold Sellers and every time they swing a ban hammer at an account these guys go and purchase a new game key! For now, this gives ZOS even more incentive to ban them since (as you pointed out) they do this for the money!

(I am by no means implying that ZOS is purely in it for the money! I am sure most of their team have a passion for what they do!)

Well. what we all can agree on is that maybe ZO should put more effort into getting rid of the botters? i spent the last 4 days not being able to loot ONE dungeon boss because they are camped 24/7

No. We are all agreed that people who think there isn't enough effort being put towards this have no idea how bots are broken.

Does any one else think it is funny tht this thread and the one about a GM actively hunting bots co-exist in the same forum only a few posts apart?

I'll never understand how so many people can just assume that botters, spammers, and gold sellers are using legitimately paid for accounts. I guess naivety knows no bounds.

Both funny and heart-breakingly sad for the human race.

My honest opinion is that a lot of people don't understand how the gold farmers/bots get their accounts. They also don't understand how the credit card industry works. Many people go through life without ever having to call their credit card company except to activate a new card. Even still, there are a lot of people who might not notice extra charges on the cards because they just don't pay attention... they won't know until their card company calls them to say there were a bunch of weird charges.

So... I give him/her the benefit of the doubt.

The introduction of GMs going down to the field and weave the ban hammer is a start and they(GMs) need our help so all we can do as players for now is to report any bots that we and give as detailed description as possible so they can track those bots easier.
