It took 45 minutes just to create my Character.

All that means is that you're new and not familiar with character creation. :p I can make a good 15 adjustments in under three minutes, bang in a name and be out carousing, and have exactly what I want to see for my character.

Well no, I'm not "new". I just am picky with detail. My highest character at the moment took an hour to create simply because I literally went through every detail and tried to make it as accurate as possible to my face/body. Creepy? Potentially. Satisfied with character? 100%.

I have a small fear that I'd hate the look of my character 100 hours into the game, so spending the time now to make it look spiffy is worth it (in my opinion).

Sometimes I spend awhile making a character too. I like to get the face the way I want it, then I decide the body needs work, then the face needs work, then the body needs work, then I accidentally hit randomize! Start over but then... damn, I have another idea for how I want it to look, stupid randomize look what you made me do!

It was worse in City of Heroes, but this is still lots of fun... :)

Some people like to mess around slowly with the creator, trying different hairs and colours, races and details. All it really means is that he enjoyed his time.... based on his meme :P

What is annoying is spending that time creating them only to realize you put them in the wrong alliance... geez... There is a down side to the "open" choices given by the CE. :s

Don't worry. I spend a good two hours creating my character. That was in the Beta, though.
I used a long time making caracters at the end of beta, then I took screenshots of settings and was up and running after two minutes at launch.

Good luck in any MMO perfecting a character's looks on the character creation screen and then finding that's exactly how the character looks in-game! It doesn't often turn out that way, not least when in-game lighting is taken into account. And when it does, you'd better hope the game allows you to disable the headgear appearance because otherwise after all that time choosing the hairstyle you'll find your character is bald once you don headgear! Then it's "Hmm, does 15AC really matter that much?

No, they're tied up at the moment, talking to their bank about their credit card that was stolen just after they bought a pre-made character ;)!

Reminds me when I first started beta. Took me a good 10 minutes to mess around with the creation part, and a good name. Thinking of a race and class to be.

Know what I hated. Spending so long making your character, starting the game, investing a bit of time in the character before realizing they do not have the right voice..

This has happened many times, also characters look slightly different ingame than in the creation screen I find.

    Maybe it's the lighting.

I am right there with you! I have no issues spending an hour making my character look perfect.

Sadly, my first is a victim of the character creation bug where we could not zoom into their faces. So she is ugly. So UGLY!!!

I hope Zenmax eventually allows us to redo our appearances!!!

And why is that exactly? :p Happens to me in almost every game. I "can" spend about 45 minutes making my first few characters. Get into the game, and its like what the hell happened to my cheeks!? Log out > delete > create > login Arghh my neck and ears, and what is going on with that skin tone?! log out... create > ACK! name taken WTH! :)

Why can't a character creator be done in an in-game environment versus some dressing room set apart from what things actually look like in the game.

To OP nah 45 minutes isn't bad. I know after a while I can make alts in a minute or two, but in the beginning taking your time is all good.

Holy....I thought I was slow at character creation! And I'm not saying it's a bad thing to take all day to create a character. :)

Took me less then a minute. I created my char in 1 hour in beta. Made screens of the sliders at very close detail. Then when in live i could just adjust the sliders using a magnifier program te recreate the exact same i had in beta.

I also still have my char creation screens of other games might i wish to recreate a clone of them.
