Rooted during Crystal Shard channel?

Is this intentional? Once you start the Crystal Shard animation there seems to be no way to cancel it. Even dodge block and interrupt apparently have no effect.

It's death-on-a-stick if something hits you with a power attack during the cast or if several mobs pile on you. You just stand there waving your arms until you die.

you just press block. That stops it.

However sometimes the animation can get stuck and your character appears to do a stupid dance. The only way I found to continue is to switch to third person and this works.

I thought it was supposed to break on block - but I've been finding it doesn't.

It may be a manifestation of the combat lag bug that keeps coming up, where no skills work for several seconds but I'm finding I can't move either, or block or dodge or do anything at all until the animation ends. The skill fires normally (if I'm still alive).

EDIT: OK - I stand corrected - I tried some tests on low-level mobs and block does cancel it. I must be having trouble with the bug. I'll keep an eye on it.
