VR area killed Roleplaying and are a lazy way to give more content - How it should have been done

I hit 50/VR1 last week and had that 20 seconds dialogue with Cadwell that proposes me to "see the other alliances".

Since then, though I am a Daggerfall guy, a personal friend of the high king, despite the fact that I killed countless of invaders of the other 2 alliances during my 49 first levels I am now killing my fellows breton soldiers in Auridon in the name of the queen...

Also, during the final chapter of the main quest, I met in Coldharbor some "evil guys" that were dead and being punished by Molag Bal ... Surprise ... in Auridon I met Lady Estree again! alive and kicking, and friend to the queen!!

Last of all, I did remember re-establishing contact with the "isle of Eyevea" that was the link between all the mages guild in the world, cross alliances, and opened portal in all guild halls ... guess what: no portal are open in Auridon ...

I am pretty sure that if I play a bit further, such examples will be legion, simply because the devs did the most lazy and RP-killing thing to do to increase content! How sad....

What should/could/might have been done is an adapted version of the base quests of the other 2 alliances, where you receive a kind of "royal laisser-passer" to freely wander in the other 2 reals, as the savior of the world, and where you could have been confronted with difficult choices in petty local war: should I help the Elf queen to repel the breton invaders or side with my country and secretly help them against the queen, or work a truce? with the risk of beeing KOS if I loose too much faction with the queen, or in my own country (a change of alliance type quest -line?)!

Of course, all NPC I met previously in coldharbor should recognise me and thanks me for helping/saving them and the world...

And I could go on like that for ages, but I guess that all who loves Roleplaying have understood me by now.

So, VR level killed roleplaying.

What are your view on this? And please don' t come back with the lazy explanation the devs used: "Merida telling you she enable you to see what might have happens if you landed on a different shore".. This is a very sad cheap lazy RP excuse...

That's the reason I'm not even going do it at all. Once I finishes the main quest, I will travel around for the shard and wayshrine, but will not take any quest.

Somebody running towards me outside a town whining? Good luck yourself.

I will make alts for different factions.

Same for me. At the moment I see no point in getting the veteran ranks as I'll have to go through the same quests my alts in other alliances do.

Had they actually added in different questlines, sure, I'd love to quest in Daggerfall as my Nord. But as it stands, just no. I'll grab shards and shrines and that's it.

Indeed, I had also some alts i the other 2 alliances, and I am not really motivated anymore to play them, except for the different classes style

Most people will say *** this *** when they get 1500xp for their 10 minute veteran quest. There is just no way that a rational human being will spend so much time to gain 10 levels.

I wish the issues with VR were only about roleplaying. I made a thread about it in customer support too, not that the people who count will care, but hey what the hell...

I am getting the impression that all of you guys , hit space at the end of the class quest chain.

Meridia says that your journey is not yet over and you have cough the attention of a couple of daedric princes with your actions for your alliance and your own gains and because of this she is giving you the ability to experience the other alliances and their points of view.

As i understood this , you are viewing events from a different point of view , you aren't actually killing your own faction , since events already unfolded the way they did when you started your own story in your own factions and these events are a sort of what ifs . What if you decided to join the AD , or the EP , or the DC ( depending on your choice at the begging of the game ) , it basically lets you experiment the other faction's struggles and understand their motives from the inside , compared to a view point of an enemy you meet on the battle field

      Dear @Memnock‌

I did read the quest/dialogue, but you didn't red my post, and your comment is exactly the one I asked not to write back...

What you said is exactly the sad RP-killing excuse the devs used and with which I disagree. VR quests could have been done in a great, RP-enhancing way, instead of being cheated by doing exactly the same content that other factions.

I see it different, that's not me, im just seeing an other adventurer that did that stuff at the same time as i was saving Daggerfall.

So yes Estrid etc.. are alive in that vision,.

Lucky for me my main character would most likely sell to both sides to further her profits. So yeah, totally fine with getting buddy buddy with the queen.

But I can totally see how others might have far more honor than me. If you would like just disconnect your character each time, imagine it as the same character born into AD faction instead of DC. You know, an alternate universe type RP. Now instead of one character you have three! Only one thing is slightly different and you get to see how it changes them.

What they should have done in my opinion:

      > Make the veteran zones an all faction zone (still PvE only), the same goes for Coldharbour actually...

      > Then have a specific questline throughout the veteran areas, that basically continues the original area stories and deals with the aftermath of the level 1-49 events.

      > Sidequests could have remained as they are now for the most part (though I would prefer new ones, but the work involved would probably have been too much).

This would also have allowed for some cross-faction RP, which I dearly miss. Even in SWTOR cross-faction RP was possible in most areas.

The whole veteran ranks after hitting 50 is a total let down and done very wrong for an mmo...I hate to say it but a lot of folks nowadays have had their fair share of questing and etc...and really look for endgame content such as dungeons/raids/boss's and of course pvp....forcing people to grind quests in pve for awhile is very wrong for a sub based mmo...

the level cap is very frustrating and going to hurt this game if not adjusted quickly it makes picking this game up and enjoying end game content very hard and frustratingly boring...
