How importent are racial traits?

Does it make a noticable difference in say creating a dark elf dragon knight with the dark elf traits that improve spell power with fire effects, compared to say a nord one.

Yeah, the passives can be noticeable, so racial traits do matter. Decide early on the type of character you enjoy playing most.

That being said, "noticeable" does not mean "critical"...you could make an Orc sorcerer that could level just fine and probably even PvP. It will just be a little harder than if you'd used a High Elf.

I see and good to see racial traits isn't the deciding factor when making a character, thanks for the answer.

As noted, they aren't the be-all, end-all, and they can even make "playing against type" MORE viable ---- if your racial stat is great for tanky characters, and you want to play a fragile character, that means your fragile character doesn't have to invest the points that the fragile character of another race might, in order to get the same level of tankish-like protection. So you can focus your attention / gear elsewhere.

Keep in mind racials are also optional...My main is a Breton and I have not invested a single point into any of his racials. I am able to solo mobs 10 levels above me and groups 5 levels above me.
