Public Dungeons & Quests

An alternate name for this thread could be, "To much MM in my ORPG".

As both an Elder Scrolls and MMO fan, I'm enjoying this game so far. Granted I've only played for about six hours and hit level 7, but it's so far so good. One issue that is bit by bit detracting from the game, however, is the fact that - so far at least - everything is public. I don't believe I've run a single thing that was instanced. If definitely detracts from the story to, for example, spend twenty minutes opening an ancient tomb only to find that there's already a couple dozen people inside or traveling back in time where, as you'd expect, a handful of players are already rooting around.

While the story-breaking aspect is unfortunate, there's also the massive side effect that having multiple people running the same dungeon/quest content contributes to in regards to combat. Why bother trying to stealth through a dungeon and line up a perfect shot, when seven people in plate armor just bulldozed the entire area? Just hop on the back of that train and run to the object. It's hard to decide what skills are going to be useful when every trash mob is blasted by a raid's worth of players at each spawn. I have no idea how they are going to balance the game for the next generation after the zerg rush of players blast through the content. If the intention was to foster teamwork and grouping... it hasn't. Just hop on board and blow through the content or else wait until two in the morning to play.

I'm holding out hope that this issue is magnified because I'm a low level in a starter area. Perhaps people spread out at higher levels. So my question is essentially, does it get better/different or will I be rolling content with a legion of randoms for the rest of the game?

The public dungeons are mostly fairly crowded in zones that have a lot of players, which is currently most of the leveling zones. I expect they will be much less crowded now with the boss loot timer.
