Skill level effect
I know that skill level determines what abilities you get access to, either your passives, actives or ultimate. However I'm wondering if there is an effect the skill level itself has on combat. Does it affect damage or any other stat for that weapon type? Is there any benefit to having it significantly higher than your level other than just access to new active/passive abilities?
For reference I'm an 18 Dragon Knight with One Handed Sword at 28.
