PS4 beta coming next weekend?

There is a slight possibility it's coming this weekend. We'll know later today if it is because Tuesday is when they announce beta invites. However, back to the real possibility! The playstation 4 update 1.7 allows one very important update. The ability to pre-install pre-ordered games. This is huge for ESO. The update is rumored to come April 30th. That's next Wednesday. Just in time for those who pre-ordered to download ESO and start the beta next weekend. So the timeline would go: April 29th beta invites sent out----April 30th PS4 update----May 2nd start of beta. What do you think?

I suppose that getting the betas started early can help them attempt to prevent as many bugs as possible on launch.

I just returned my PC ESO copy because I paid premium price for something that was supper buggy, probably the most expensive and buggiest MMO game I've ever played (80 USD).

The combat however was still fun and I'm hoping to give PS4 version a try, hopefully the bugs won't be there anymore. So looking forward to seeing the beta invites go out to see it in action.

I hope it comes out, I don't like the PC/Mac version and can't wait for it to hit the console. I'm stuck with this PC version but will purchase the PS4 version asap.

Where do you get June 6 console release. The only date I have ever seen is June 30th though Amazon sent me a delivery date of July 2 for my Imperial Edition.

There will be a download option for anyone that preorders the game on psn.

That's how you get into the beta. You have to preorder/pay for the game.

You're right, my bad. June 6th was wrong but June was right. The release announcement said console was going live in June, I just imagined the specific day.

there is nothing on PSN about it yet.

If you have the preorder code, once psn puts the download for it up, you will be able to get it and play beta weekends if they end up having them.

Right now, there is no real info out there.

The update 1.70 was confirmed by playstation for an April 30th release to Europe! Hopefully North America will be alongside it

Hope they get the beta client out soon. First only for PS+ members and the last weekend for the 2 people someplace in the world who don't have PS+.

Yeah, I would hope that they would have an open beta, instead of only having a preorder-based closed beta for the consoles. Especially in the case of the XBox One, because Microsoft charges 20 grand per patch to developers who want to patch their games after they hit the arcade. (I kid you not-- I have an indie dev friend who has a 360 game in the arcade now, and it's a pretty popular one, too, but he still can't even remotely afford a bug patch.)

That june release date is just a placeholder. Zenimax might delay or cancel the project in order to get PC version right first.

As much as I hope not, I agree with you. Saw it happen to age of Conan. I do think if they drop it, it will be a mistake as consoles need something like this (especially Xbone as MS has no MMO yet)

I doubt its being canceled. Reason being is the console beta forms were taken down during pc release but now they are back up. I signed up on tuesday again and just got my email saying they will contact me when beta starts. If they were dropping the project they wouldnt put the beta sign.

Also if you remember back at E3 last year they said eso would have an exclusive early access or beta.

There is probably to much money in play for them to consider canceling the console versions. And I don't think the same people that are on the PC version is actually working on the console versions.

Probably a whole different team.

I don't know why but I have gotten the idea in my head that the console version is going to be better. Time will tell...

They're going to release for console. As much talk as they've done about console ESO why in the world would they cancel it? There seems to be no sign of cancel and if there were then surely they would have decided a month and s half before intended release.
If they still plan doing a beta and a release date by June (let's say June 30th at the latest) then they have about 7-8 weekends left to do at least ONE beta. (Given that they don't do a beta the week before release.) If they're going to release in June and hold betas then I assume there will be more than one beta. If that's the case it only makes since to start next weekend. That would give them all of May and the first half of June to beta test.

The thing that people forget, it seems some of us here realize this. Console doesnt need a beta anywhere near the scale of pc. The games done, bugs are getting sorted and nerfs and buffs are on the way. Basically they need one beta weekend for a stress test. Two tops. I predict we here something within the next two weeks. Game gets released somtime late June and a beta weekend first week of june.

Exactly, hence the comment on the Xbox One needing something. I do really like the FFXIV subscription too, for both PC and PS4 one fee

Well guys, no beta this weekend. We can still look forward to the 1.7 ps4 update tomorrow though! As far as betas go I'm afraid there might only be one or two and they'll probably fall in June. I wonder if we'll be able to download our pre-ordered games tomorrow because of this update 1.7!

True, the beta is mostly an demo to sell the game. Yes some stuff like voice chat need to be stress tested but most is done, they might want to test some new features too.
