Simply not fun at lower levels

icanhazfacemelt
Title says it all. I do NOT think they need to do anything rash like nerf veterans. Soon the world will be full of vets so that's a bad knee jerk reaction. But they definitely need to do something because pvping as a lowbie is just not fun. Getting 2 shot by a higher level player is not fun. They have earned the right to do so imho. Still doesn't make it fun. And considering the amount of time and effort it takes to get to 50, that's a long time to wait before meaningful, fun pvp.
Easiest solution would be bracketed pvp without emperor or leader board, just playing for keeps.
Hell I'll even take bracketed bgs at this stage. Gasp!

    Getting 50 isn't tough.

I thought it would take forever while I was trying to PVP but I did the mob grind thing in Rivenspire, Alikr, and then autoran circles in Cold Harbor smashing my 3 button over and over. Got from 20 to 50 in two or three nights of casual playing.

just skip all the quests, lore, dungeons, and all that junk and you'll be set to PVP in no time.

The real grind starts at VR1 (level 50).

edit: You should do the story quests though. I did all of mine when I got to 48 and they got me past 50.

PvP is fun at any level if you know how to be a team player. If you are a low level compared to everyone else then I suggest you take on range/support roles. In a competitive community such as PvP in MMOs do not expect to be the big cheese because you are just a lil tiny slice of cheese who just picked up a gimpy weapon expecting to do massive damage. Which means you are slightly delusional because you expect everyone to bow to your great skills and ignore the fact that you are new and inexperienced. Being inexperienced in anything will often result in constant failure but with failure shines a chance to learn and adapt to overcome challenges.

If you want to enjoy pvp you need to take death less seriously. It should be something that you tie no emotion to, other then maybe as an incentive to do better. It doesn't matter what the circumstances are, there will always be things in pvp that are not 'fair'. At VR10 you will be getting owned by better players, FOTM builds, you name it.

Once you can do that, you will be a better player and have more fun.

Our guild fielded for the first weekend with more then half of our players still under 50, and only 4 players above VR3. We kicked some serious ass, including farming an emperor over and over and winning several outnumbered fights against far more veterans then we had. But before that we got seriously owned for the first couple of hours. But instead of complaining about how OP vets are, we kept trying things until we found what worked.

Your first reaction to being two shotted should not be damn I got killed this sucks. It should be WTF did that guy hit me with, I need to figure that out.

    1. Set up a nice playlist
    2. Grind mobs
    3. Profit

It took me about 30 hours to hit lvl 50 and now I have enough gold and SP to mess around with few builds and enjoy some PvP ;)

Stupid is insulting people you know nothing about for no good reason.

It works out fine. You can go back and get those skill points anytime you want. You aren't barred from them because you skipped them.

The difference is you can go do it whenever you like rather than having to do it before you PVP.

But even so, between skyshards, the main story, and the 50 levels there are more than enough for a good character build.

And whatever personal problems you got going on that you gotta call people you know nothing about stupid you really should keep to yourself. Your personal emo issues don't really have anything to do with this.

makes sense...lets mind numbingly grind mobs for 30h only to have to go back and do the quests anyway...sound logic there

    Your logic is obviously flawed.

As a PVP player who merely wishes to be competitive during PVP and attain that goal as soon as possible while putting as little effort into the PVE portion of the game as possible my suggestion is sound.

I can only suggest you act like an adult. I cannot force you.

My feelings and yours are irrelevant.

    nobody cares moby.

The title of the thread is 'Simply not fun at lower levels.' Maybe it's all about perspective, I started PVP at level 10 and now still only level 20 but I have good fun and learn a lot each time I go to Cyrodil. Sure I die a fair bit, but that's PVP. For me the experience is fun.

Our lvl 10 cleaned a vet rank players clock, now believe it or not, he cleaned a vampire empress vet rank. He is beast.. thats an exception tho. Of course its going to be hard when your bottom of the food chain. Level up and get practiced, ride with a coordinated team and the tides will turn. Dont stand still and hack and slash, you wont win, for one...a common rookie mistake that I had to learn too as a new pvper.

I don't like the idea of bracketed PvP at all.

I've PvP'd since Level 10, am currently only level 41, and have been having insane amounts of fun the whole time. I don't have issues with Veteran rank players, so long as I play smart and strategically.

Don't make those of us who love PvP suffer due to players who can't do it. )=

I take my characters at level 10 into PVP and have a lot of fun. I join a group, fight as a team and have a great time.

Really doesn't take all that long to reach 50. It's what comes after 50 that is really, REALLY bad imo. 1-50 would take a casual player probably about 2-3 weeks, maybe a solid month, to achieve. I reached 50 in about 4 days. But, I'm not a casual player lol. Basing opinions on "soloing" high level players isn't really a good idea to do. Since the game itself isn't balanced around this aspect of pvp. With the like 200 skill points you can get and the different weapon lines and different professions and the ability to stack stats as you like, it would take a LOT of re-working of the current system to have a balance, or close to it, between the large scale battles and the smaller, less frequent, encounters like 1v1, 4v4 or 5v5.
