Class and Skill line that is the most fun to play?

Hey guys veteran Elder Scrolls fan here. I've been really trying to get into ESO but i'm having a hard time finding the game "fun". I tried rolling a Dragonknight at first to try and get a feel for the game then a Templar tank/bow user just to see how far customization really goes, but with both classes I found them to be repetitive and boring to play. The questing in the game is more of a necessity than an option, and there isn't really any sense of exploration. If I pick one direction and keep running I don't really find anything interesting, no random dungeons to explore like in TES games or npc's with a "real" story behind them. The more I play this game, the more I want to play Morrowind, Skyrim, or wait for TES6. I might get flamed for this, but hopefully some other fans of the series might understand how I'm feeling. Getting back on topic, is there a build anyone can recommend that might be more fun to play? My biggest complaint with the Templar and DragonKnight is that the gameplay is really repetitive and there isn't a whole lot of direction in the skill system. Often I'll run around playing the game with two or more skill points waiting to be perked simply because I don't know or can't figure out what to do with them. I suppose direction in the skill system limits freedom, but its hard to figure out what to do with your skill points when you don't even know what you can do with your character. If anyone knows of a site that might help newer players figure out the skill system, or even a fun build that is unique yet has a real elder scrolls feel that an old vet can appreciate what would you guys recommend? I've always been partial to battlemage or paladin builds, in Skyrim I ran a dual wielding sneak character that was a lot of fun, especially since I didn't normally play sneaky characters in other games. What do you guys think?

The numbers arent exact, but this is pretty much the best skill calculator out there. It sounds like you might like a more intricate character like a nightblade for a rogue type player.

I played a Dragonknight at first and kinda liked it til I felt underpowered and I got bored, I did two handed. I then tried a wood elf archer and hated bows. Then i tried a nightblade DW and loved it but realized the stealth system wasn't good enough for me to continue. I think im going to try a different class today and see where that gets me.

    My favorite:
    Wood elf Night Blade
    bow/dual wield

I fight at range with my bow.For close encounters....Dual Wield.
My bow is 50. I use FOCUS AIM (a Snipe morph)) as my ranged starter.Till you get these use Lethal Arrow.
DW Surprise Attack starts fights.....Blood Craze(spammed) tends to finish the fight

Give Cyrodiil a go.You will be fodder till at least 50 so fight only from range(an be patient)

I would also say night blade with dual wield and bow. It's not the most powerful by a long shot, but it's the most fun by miles, to me anyway.

I really enjoy my mageplar (templar with light armor / resto staff and focused on dawn's wrath attacks and heals). It's a fun damage and support build, works well in cyrodiil and pve dungeons.

Also have a bow/dual wield nightblade (used to be dual wield only, then changed to bow only, now doing both) and it's working out pretty well with some of the stamina changes that have been added.
    PS4 / NA
    M'asad - Khajiit Nightblade - Healer
Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank
Raksha - Khajiit Sorcerer - Stamina DPS
Bastet - Khajiit Templar - Healer
Leonin - Khajiit Warden - Tank

I put my heart and soul into my NB (played one since beta). I give up on it for now.

I have tried all classes now and frankly the DK is stupid easy to play but I wanted more "fun" than just effectiveness. NB is just awkward. It's skills when put together have little synergy. It is like a bunch of random powers tossed together. Templar just doesn't have the variety of options I want with one entire skill tree being dedicated to healing.

I've settled on a sorc. Frankly I do not like them for the first 10 levels or so. They take more time to mature I found for the builds I wanted. Currently I am playing a 2h + resto staff with 2h being the primary dps. I simply find this class to have more fun options to draw upon. It works amazingly well with melee (build is very much a melee mage though). What sold me on this class over any other and likely why I will not play another class is Overload. I rarely actually use it as dps (when I need range and especially when stam and magicka is low) but instead simply use it as a 3rd skill bar. That fact alone sold me on this class. I keep 1 or 2 optional spell on the 3rd bar along with my buffs instead of wasting them on the primary bars. This opens up so may more options for me and solves the problem of limited skill bars.

There are tricks you can do because of this. I love Volatile Familiar, especially as melee. Swapping to any other bar without the skill instantly blows it up. I can swap bars for an instant aoe damage and stun on demand thus allowing me access to more abilities. I find Overload is more responsive than weapon swapping too. I duplicate my charge ability on the Overload bar. You can cast class skills while still in Overload but hitting charge instantly swaps you to my 2h bar so I can start my rotations. Overload allows sorcs to have incredibly more complex builds and game play. There is no other choice for me now.

A lot of people cry about how they're "underpowered" or "broken" but I love all three of my Nightblades.

If I have to pick one? Sorc, Storm Calling, make things go BOOM! Can Crystal Fragments join the party?

I love how this pic keeps popping up. Some dude stands still sucking several Crystal Fragments (which would take significant time to cast by one sorc because it can't proc off itself) without even interrupting ONE of them ... then goes on forums complaining.

I'll add I am pro-balancing but require proper intelligent proof for demands.

I use a "Spear Priest", light armor, healing staff, and all the Aedric spear skills except the last two.. then channeling focus and breath of life for for the fourth and fifth skill. My second weaponset I use for full on healing.

Against tough elite mobs, all I have to do is Binding Javelin -> heavy attack -> binding javelin -> heavy attack -> binding javelin -> heavy attack. Just do it over and over till the monster is dead, you never get hit and never run out of magicka. It would work with Rock Fist from Dragonknight as well, same magicka cost and same stun length.

Against multiple enemies I start with explosive charge and then spam Biting Jabs till everything is dead.

Works like a charm and is a ton of fun. Once you get channeling focus you can take on lots of mobs spamming Biting Jabs due to the high armor it gives.

Agreed. It has a cast time, and although you can get it down to 1.3 seconds, it still gives you a chance. You can break the first one if you didn't see it coming, use an interrupt or dodge the next etc. If he's spamming it, he's really predictable and should be a little easier to set up for interrupts, dodges, CC etc.

Lastly, do we know what level each person was? Gear? Experience? Attributes? resists? Build?

A lot of people suggesting NBs with DW/Bow.... basically, what I have!

I started out with a sorcerer with destructive/restorations staves.... very good but until a higer lvl, escape doesn't seem to be an option. However it is fun to play.

Now I have a NB as mentioned above. I went the imperial race route as I knew I intended to become a vamp and this helps somewhat but otherwise a khajit would be much better. Stealthy, rogue that ambushes people between 2 keeps in pvp (especially with my group of friends playing). This has been by far the funnest class to play; so much so I have one in each alliance.

I have tried DK but found him boring, and templars ok but I don't like the healing focus as I always opt for damage output (although it's damage is ok) but all these comments are just personal opinions

The early game from 1 to 50 is rather linear like a typical MMO, but the veteran areas feel significantly more open-ended. There is still a little bit of linearity to them, but you're no longer so limited by your ability to survive.

Remember, this isn't like most TES games; it's an MMO, and the focus is on the community experience living in Tamriel. Play with friends, help them explore, have your squad specialize in various crafting skills, get involved with guilds, team up for dungeons - experience the social side of things. This is further improved when hitting veteran content.

As for your character type, that will take a little experimentation. Try getting to level 10 with each class, try out their basic class skills, and see how different weapons work with each one. You'll find something that fits.

Personally, I love playing the "dark ranger" type of class, so I tried a Nightblade and was disappointed. I love the siphoning and stealth/mobility aspects, but the abilities felt too bloody, like the Dark Brotherhood or something. So instead I tried a stamina-based Sorcerer and found it to be incredibly fun. Tons of crowd control, great synergy with dual wielding, and the game feel was great.

Eventually I decided to branch out and make a magicka build as an alternative, and I'm having tons of fun with that as well. It feels completely different, and I am a little torn between the two gameplay styles, but I love Sorcerer either way.

Most fun to play ? NB hands down. NB can be hard ti learn at first but once you know how to play it rocks. PVE wise, been grinding mobs 5 lvl higher than me with broken gears easily with bow and only have 60 cp. Im really enjoying the class.

after i tried all class, the best i enjoy is the templar.

you can soloing and fight very large mobs, that is nice.
by the way, with the templar you can aquire champion points in a very short time, because the experience you got from killing those mobs is hudge.

    - also i got lot of fun with the sorc. overpowered everywhere.

NB and DK i don't really like too much.
