Presumably if Sheogarath cursed the books so Shalidor can't read them, he cursed them so they can't be copied as well.Why doesnt she just write down what the books says and give it to Shalidor to help her?
Plus they may have qualities like the elder scrolls were they simply can't be copied, you might copy the form but not the magic needed.
People believe what they either want to be true or what they are afraid is true!
