[REQUEST] Remove quest markers

I just want to search for quests, take my time, listen to what NPC says that his sword is, or where the bandit camp is.

Because when I want to know the location of quest object, its given to my by marker, but I don`t want it. I want the marker gone so I can find it myself.

But quest markers will display the way into the quest point and ruin all the fun. I just want to be able to disable quest markets over head and ON the world map/compass.

Just go,and explore the world.

    Turn them off in settings.

You cannot turn them off. You can turn off only Quest Givers who give quests, but people who I should talk to / kill / items to pick / objects to find are still highlighted on map or I see those indicators hovering above them, That I don`t want.

I want to find them myself.

Unfortunately this can't be done comprehensively by an addon - it'd be something ZOS would have to add an option for.

wow great, thanks but it removed everything from the map, wayshrines so I cannot teleport, dungeons, stables etc. I now see nothing, so its unusable :(

found also Wykkyd's Full Immersion but it doesn`t work.

Hrm.. Shame, then I'm not sure what would help. I don't have that addon myself, I figured it would have some configurable settings

Have you turned off compass in the game settings? Have you turned off quest pins on the map?

Just please remember that the quest text is often very vague in regards to directions as it assumes you will be using the markers to find the area/items. Unfortunately this game has been made with the markers guiding you in mind, not the other way round.

Did you find an add on that allowed you to turn off the quest markers?

Addons can definetely do this, as I've experienced it as a bug with MultiQuestTracker.

As that addon let you individual untrack quests - which completely hid their quest pointers. Though it was very buggy and they often reappeared or disappered on load screens.

So try the newer version, I believe it lets you do this kind of:
    http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info336-FullyCustomizableMultiQuestsTracker.html

Does have options to hide certain types of quest. Wheather it lets you hide ALL quests, I don't think so.. But you can make a feature request for it perhaps, Blackstorm is pretty cool and implements most requests that are reasonable.

If an addon did it by accident then I have to assume the map pins are tied to the game window. That would imply you can put markers over anything you please, like the location a chest gens. Not an area I've played in and I'm busy doing other things, but you might try contacting the people doing HarvestMap or ZrMiniMap since they have to deal with those parts of a API.

Yes. It's one of the truly great tragedies in the evolution of MMOs over the years.

Once you had to actually think a bit for yourself regarding quests. Now they're just way-points on a map. There's no better other single example of a backward step taken in MMOs to satisfy the vocal whining of the minority.

If you can be anything, be kind.

Because MMOs are about the Online and less about the single player questing. Just a thought.

Yes, an MMO is online....not sure why this was mentioned, since it is quite obvious from the "O" in "MMO".... But most of the quests, enemies, heck even some of the world bosses (looks at Duriatundur) are super easy to beat by oneself. The ability to not see a marker on the horizon, or mucking up the beauty of the game in no way keeps you from playing with other people. The option to turn off a quest marker is a good thing, especially for those of us who find something awesome and want to commemorate the moment. Just a thought.

The attached photo is a perfect example, if I had been able to stop tracking quests completely, or turn off the actual icon in the world, this would have been a great picture....

edit: I would like to emphasize that it should be an option to turn off the markers in the world, not something that is simply taken away. Some quests are so vague that it isn't even funny.

In a forum where stuff can fall within hours over the page border, raising a 3,75 months old thread could be considered necromancy.
Especialy if the first thing you do is just trying to counter somebody else long dead point.

But it is worth revising. I think Photographer does something along these lines:
    http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info371-Photographer.html
Elana Peterson (EU), Dominion, Imperial Sorc, Rune & Alchemy Crafting Char
Leonida Peterson (EU), Daggerfall, Kajiit Nightblade, Tank & main Crafter
Kurga Peterson (EU), Ebonhart, Ork Dragonknight, Provision Mule
Coldblood Peterson (EU) Argonian Templer, Daggerfall, Healer
Incendia Peterson (EU), Dominion, Dunmer Dragonknight, fire DPS & healer
Haldor Belendor (EU), Ebonhart, Breton Sorcerer, Tank
Fuliminictus Peterson (EU), Ebonhart, Altmer Sorcerer, Electric DPS

I think it is also worth mentioning, since we're back from the dead, that Pinkiller has received more love since the original post.

Ill double check (if people want), but I think I can easily accommodate this in HeatMapR FoW mode (screenshots, etc here). By default I keep quest pins visible.

I know this is old now but I have recently started playing again and I hated the quest markers and all of the handholding too. I can confirm that Pinkiller does the job very nicely and is super customisable too.

Without thread necromancy a forum like this can seem like the shouting among traders on the floor of the stock exchange.

There is a lighthearted acceptance of what amounts to superhero senses in these quests....with white chevrons marking THE SPOT and humorous labels when you mouse over things such as "disturbing stew" "mysterious crate" and even an emote thrown in for you to tilt your head and rub your chin thoughtfully as you regard some of the clues such as arrows shot into a bookcase.

This is only the second online game I've really gotten into that featured scripted quests at all. Their very existence has been difficult for me to accept and I've not found them to be a social activity except to share with others how this or that quest made me feel and hear how they affected my friends.

But, yes, the white chevron does break pure immersion.

    Sela%20and%20Mel%201_zpsruj9e4ym.png

As do those markers that tell you which doors or floor hatches actually work or fit the story of the quest.....

    Wilderking%20Conclusion_zps1qblhprf.png

And, as one person noted early this thread, these are concessions made for online games. Yet this is the first online game I've played that might be best described as massively single player.

I'd be curious about what the actual breakdown is. What percentage of player time is spent in group activities? I imagine that, in this game, that percentage is low.

EDIT: how I originally said tilting your head to one side as c-o-c-k-i-n-g was filtered as obscene....makes sense I suppose.
