Why can I play through the game naked?

thisisdustinsemail_ESO
So I've been playing through this game with no armor, mostly to avoid repair costs. Every now and then I'll slap on a random piece of armor until it breaks, to get the experience for its skill line.

I'm level 22. Why can I play through the game naked with minimal difficulty? I'm mainly a healer, and so far I've solo'd everything that's solo-able. Doesn't that say something about the armor system?

I've also respecced and removed all the skill points I've placed in my crafting skills. I don't need any of them if I can make it through the game with no armor, only using the weapons I pick up from loot drops.

Shouldn't you like, NEED to wear armor to be effective? And should't crafting stuff actually be beneficial? I dunno, maybe I'm doing something wrong...

Edit: I've also done all group dungeon content available at my level, with minimal difficulty.

Well, repair costs aren't bad, so get better at earning gold.

That said, it sounds like you're playing content that's extremely low level for you. There's no other way you could be doing that much damage so quickly.

In heavy armor, I sometimes get destroyed by stuff my level if I pull more than 1 enemy and don't kill them quickly.

    I'm not trying to troll.

I'm just saying. What's the point of armor or crafting if I don't even need any of that stuff, even for group dungeons?

I understand that when I reach the VR ranks, I may need it, but shouldn't I need it no matter where I am in the game? It's just kind of silly, really.

    Yeah, I call guar-dung.

No way you're taking any hits during a fight without armor. And without bonuses, you don't have enough resources to survive or use abilities.

OP is right. I am lvl 38 melee templar and I often play with 0 armor rating to save repair costs. The difference to overcharged armor value is barely noticeable to me.

Something must be bugged then because I certainly notice the damage intake when overcharged vs broken armor.

Or you're using CC and/or overlevel the content so you're not taking much damage regardless.

Yeah, this is far noticeable in veteran content. If I am having a hard time with something in Vet content it usually means I have broken gear. 1-50 is normal mode 50+ is hard. That being said, good luck finishing the story with an armor rating of 0.

I am experiencing the same issue. However, if i add 2 skills that grossly go over my overcharge, then my armor mitigates rather well. I think its scaling to only mitigate a certain amount depending on your level. Also blocking seems to play a part in why armor doesnt mitigate a whole lot. If armor mitigated a lot, then blocking would make you impenetrable. My advice is to overcharge as much as possible.

    Indeed. :)

I play a 2-handed berzerker style character so her only defense is destroying stuff before it kills her and her life stealing spells wear off. Its pretty wild. ^_^

Im lvl 40 and haven't repaired gear either, but thats because I get new gear fast enough to switch broken gear out or I craft the item I need, but have a feeling at lvl 50 this will stop and repairs will start showing

Maybe the OP hasn't realized that by 22 he should be out of the starter zone?

My repair costs when wearing L50 armor was huge, but now in V1 armor, its the same costs when I was L10.... cheap, which I am happy for

I noticed the cheaper repair also as a vet1 but I'm guessing it will go way back up after each vet rank, I guess I can hope I'm wrong, don't really like the 1500g repair bills mostly due from the can't fight back bug or lag :p

Most likely your Char got defeated many times since your reason
for not wearing armor is to avoid repair costs.

Yes...everyone can do that. Jump in...get clubbed, rez and come back a hundred times until you by sheer luck achieve your goal.
If that is your idea of fun...it certainly is not mine.

You don't need armor if you can kill and CC all mobs before they touch you. Th eonly ones that could damage you would be ranged mobs, but if you can keep them perma stunned or burst them down quickly you are safe, except for storm and frost atronachs, I wanna see you fight one of them.
Force Strategy uses a AOE and CC heavy build, in vet content you can see he can kill all mobs untouched, but if he slips and starts to take damage, he drops below 50% in a few secs. So later in the game you can go withouth armor and full glass canon, but you get touched you are dead.

My friend rerolled a Bosmer to play with me and also makes his character run around and fight nekkid. He says its more of a challenge and makes comments to me about how even I could do it cause the content is so easy.

I personally prefer to look at new pretty armor :p

must be tough to grind on low level mobs without experiencing anything at level. I too am a healer and this isn't right at all. You are overcharged on armor at that level already? Then I'm going to assume that you are the same with magika as well. Just another "Look at me!" troll

So what? So what if I do have to wear armor in VR zones? I'm not arguing with you.

The fact that I don't even need armor until I reach level 50 is just ridiculous.
