2h vs 1h

I'm debating to use 1h and shield or 2h. I'm a nightblade that uses mostly all armors but just one light. I love AoE and also DPS single target. Once I get to veteran ranks I'll pvp like crazy. I want to know which one will give me the easiest time AND the best results.

Well 1h doesn't have any AE, so that might answer the issue off the bat.

I am not an expert on NB but I would say dual wield would be the best choice. If you want one from the two you mentioned, I would say 2H but it's only my speculation

Hm..... I thought the bow would be my primary/ secondary. But then I would have no AeO skills really. I do have some NB skills but... I like defence to because I never want to die.

Then sword and board might be what you want to go with. Much better for a defensive style player and still does good damage. I switched my Templar from 2h to 1h+s to be more defensive. I thought that I would miss the damage from the 2h, but I haven't. Ransack's attack decreases your targets armor while increasing your own, plus you have additional defensive skills.

I'm playing a Nightblade wielding 2-handed weapons and using heavy armor.

There is some splash damage from skills. It's very, very little, but I imagine it gets noticeable in higher levels.

The thing about 2-handed weapons, per my own observation, is that you're pretty reckless. Attacks are a good bit slower than 1H weapons, particularly if you're mostly power attacking (I almost exclusively power attack). When you're invested in a power attack, it's difficult to dodge special attacks before they go off.

I haven't dual-wielded yet, but I imagine the speed of the attacks lends to a bit less of a "reckless barbarian" type experience.

On the other hand, the reach of 2-handed weapons seems much larger than shorter weapons, so you can often back outside the radius of a special attack and still hit your enemy with relative impunity.

More then enough time and Skill points to do both. i capped my first weapon skill late 30s. another before 50. im sur eyou could easily have 3 full weapon skills. its one of the reasons i love this game

You'll also most likely end up with enough skill points to start going into 2h if you want to later.

Do you find yourself dieing a lot? Do you have enough armor for it? What do you use as your AoE skills? What's your secondary? What's on your skill bar? What armor types and how many armors do you use?
