in an MMO everybody wants to look unique. Having different racial styles is a good start. But in the end everybody looks like on of the 14 variants (or 14x3=42 if you count light/medium/heavy). I have several suggestion to broaden the scope.

1 Appearal tab.
By allowing a tab for appearal player are free to look the way they want without loosing effectiveness. That would allow you to appear like you are wearing an item other than those meant VR10 rank if you prefer that look. (disabled in PvP area's such as cyrodill for obvious reasons)

2 dyes
you still look like one of the varian't but you can now chose the color scheme. Dyes would prefeably be made by alchemists.

3 Aura's
a light field surrounding your character. Higher quality aura's can be brighter or have more spectacular effects (sparks or smokiness). These would be made by enchanters.

4 clothes
meant to be like the fine silks of a successful trader. Clothes make the man. Nothing says success more than a expensive suit. Made by the clothing profession ofcourse.

5 form variants
this is mostly meant for the clothing profession but it can apply to others also. Allow player to select whether you make a hat or a hood, a robe or a vest, plate or chainmail, etc...
they would still be in the racial style but have a different form.

6 in-game barbershops
after a wile players may want different hair. IRL you may also want to take a new look every now an then.

7 jewelry
everybody want da bling. Made by enchanters or wood workers I think

8 horse armor.
Accessorize your horse for that mean look. You could go all the way whit this racial styled and dyed . It's even possible to make it functional. Add backspace, prevent dismounting, etc..
would be made by blacksmith though.

There should be an option for "don't really care." I'm not trying to be rude, I'm being serious. I don't think your ideas are bad or anything and I wouldn't mind if they were implemented at some point in the future. I just think the developers have much higher priorities, like fixing quests that are broken altogether and sorting out the diabolical trading system.

If there aren't dyes ill be purposely wearing epic rarity daedric because epic daedric = black with gold trim.... LEGENDARY = horrible faded green turtle color.... LIKE *** HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE.

2 weeks in, and everyone's already wanting to change the game into WoW, GW2, Rift, SWG, and every other MMO out in the last 15 years.

Maybe enjoy it for what it is, and leave the Devs something to add in an expansion?
The moment you call someone stupid, or try to display your opinion as "fact", you lose all credibility.

I don't like the "aura" idea. I simply hate "sparkly effects" around people in MMOs and I would rather never see something like that.

    I love everything else.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

well that doesn't mean you can't hand them a few good ideas for when they do. because that is what i intended give the devs some ideas of what to add in the next expansion. and sort of see if players liked it.

not all idea's were good... this one leans most to the bad side. though for me it's more about graphical performance in towns.
i personally wouldn't like the big bright bodywide things. i would gravitate more to smaller stuff like lightning crackling along the fingers for my sorceress. a red glow around the eyes if one of my characters was a vampire. a faint black smoke around my nightblade. a halo for the Templar. etc...

I don't have any desire to run around the game seeing everyone surrounded by some aura or another. The rest of it is great, just no for the Aura idea.
  • taylorwilenskiub17_ESO
If templars were given halo's I would never, ever roll one.

The idea about aura's is bad.
Others vary between good and awesome.
Form variants (different races have different variants) and dyes especially are awesome.
Crafted Jewelry and Horse Armor would be nice.
Barbershop will almost certainly come eventually.

This game really does need more cuztomisation options,I wish i could change some things appereance wise with my main character,But i cant. More Hairstyles,Beardstyles,Warpaints,Bodypaints,Being able to change colour on your warpaint would be nice too.

I wish i could change the body type of my character too but i dont see that happen since it may be a bit extreme to change that with an old character. But wish they still made it possible.

I like only a few idea's (tell me what you liked)
Ever since I got my first disguise I've thought that it would be a great idea if you could craft your own, or maybe just randomly find them as loot.
It has a lot of potential I think.
I wouldn't mind crafting armor for my horse also. Heavy armor would provide extra knock-off protection but slow the horse down allot. Medium & light armor would do the same but the protection would be less than heavy but so would the speed penalty.

Things like auras though I could see becoming an eyesore, especially when mixed with ability effects.
Whilst jewelery crafting would be a neat addition I couldn't see it being worth much unless mixed with enchanting.
I also wouldn't recommend physical jewelery models, oh the clipping issues.

I believe you can randomly find them as loot, but don't quote me on that. I remember looting a disguise during beta, and the quests that were related to the place where I found it didn't mention a disguise. Maybe there is a small chance that enemies that are members of a certain cult/organization/whatever will drop their "uniform"?

There would be no reason to block such a system in PvP in this game. Between no class based armor restrictions, disguises, and people in hybrid armor a person's clothing doesn't tell you squat about them already. The reasons vanity gear is blocked in other MMOs simply don't exist in this game (not that they weren't stupid reasons IMO).

2h weapons impossibly large to wield? Sure! Tight, creaky leather that inexplicably improves your stealthiness? Absolutely! Absurd, liability prone plate designs? So long as they're concealing and no molded chest then A-ok! Skimpy armor? THAT'S UNREALISTIC! <_<
