Magic resist dont work as suposed :(

Ok im sorcerer i have magic resist maxed for vl2 and still spells hit me harder then mele, why is this?
i tested against fire atronoch + some thiefs lv 47 and ... spells kill me in seconds .. and still mele if i block with potions and healing are not able to kill me ... and i have 1800 spell resistance and 1800 armour with sorc bound armour.
mele i can stay and just outheal it .. spells hit me with armour or without it for SAME amount !!! I'm not vampire to have fire vulnerability just a normal high elf.
Anyone else noted that MOB spells hit for too much damage?
