Two questions: hirelings and combat

1. It seems to me that having a woodworking hireling on two alts on the same account is a waste of a skill point, as I only get one mail per day anyway. Confirm? Disprove? Opinion?
2. Sometimes when I fight a mob of my level (8-9) that is strong enough not to die from a single combo (for example Sheogorath's pet) or when I jump 2 mobs at once so the second one can hurt me, I get into a state where I can move, run, drink healing potion from quick menu, I think even block, but not deal damage either with skills or with LMB. Is it a stun type effect from some spell, or is it a glitch?

    1. Yes.
    2. Sounds like a stun. Gutsripper does a lot of stuns, plenty of other mobs do as well. Missing a block on a heavy attack will also get you stunned for a few seconds.

    1. I seem to only get 1 mail per day, period. So I only either get the clothing hireling mail on my main, OR the enchanting hireling on an alt. I can understand one per profession per account, but one mail total per account seems a bit weird and alt-unfriendly.
    2. That might be disorient or one of the other stun-like effects, stun won't let you do anything (except break stun), not sure on the specifics for disorient.

Whoa, what? Only one mail per day per account? That totally sucks, especially since I spent most of yesterday getting enough skyshards on my three main crafters to get the hireling on each of them! Awww, now I want to respec!

Zenimax really should put a warning message up automatically when you go to put a point into your second hireling on your account. :'(

Yep, you get ONE crappy item per day from Hirelings. Really, really don't spend any points on Hirelings.

The big lol is - there's a thread somewhere demanding that hirelings be nerfed because they are too good.
    - Y, not worth having imo.
'Clever' sigs get old real fast - just like this one.

Its not one per account, its one per character, you have to login to the characters that have the skill to get it, and its every 24 hours from when you last got the bag, not an automatic one each day, and not from when you last logged into the character unless you just got the bag and logged out, unless you have upgraded the skill then every 12 hours from when you last got the bag.

    Just to clarify:
one per character per craft or one per character period? And if both have woodwork, will there be two mails if I collect them promptly?

You will have a single mail for each character that has the skill as long as you log in to each of them...for example:

    Character 1: Logged IN
Has BS hireling and Enchanting hireling
    Character 2: Logged in
has BS hireling and Woodworking hireling
Character 3: Not logged in in 2 days
    Has BS Hireling
Character 4: less than 8 hours since bag recieved
has BS hireling and Enchanting Hireling

You will recieve with the above notations, 3 BS bags, 1 Enchant Bag, and 1 Woodwork bag. If you log in with all of these 4 characters every day(24 hours after retrieving the bags) you will get 4 BS bags, 2 Enchant Bags, and 1 Woodworking bag.

Sometimes they are not directly when you login could take up to 10mins, but the cooldown to get another bag is 24 hours without it leveled up to be every 12 hours.

Its like activating the skill, each character has to login to "activate" hireling skill, then the cooldown will refresh, otherwise its just sitting in limbo not helping you like an ult not being used.

One per character. You cannot access the mail message sent to your other characters from hirelings. You can read it but not take the attachments. Those will not even show up.

You have to log into each character to get the items from that character's hirelings.

This issue happens to me on my nightblade. I have experienced it a few times. hitting ESC fixes it for me. Lets me swing again.

I think it has something to do with my weapon skill in duel wield....grrr forgot name. 2nd one that hits a single target multiple times. If the animation doesn't finish or something. My character can no longer attack or use skills. just Potion, blick, move. but ESC fixes it.

Bingo. nightblade with flurry, exactly. Thanks for the fix.

I don't think it is dual wield. This has happened to my nightblade who uses a 2H sword. Hitting esc twice fixes it.

As for hirelings, you can take the chest on another char. I did it about an hour ago. My problem is that mail frequently doesn't arive for days.

I officially call the "one email a day" comment a myth. I have my resource wench (she levels when she finds a quest, but just runs around with me playing her and collects resources). As she is my resource gather, she has one point in hirelings for both blacksmith and carpentry. She gets 2 emails every 24 hours - when she logs in. 2 of my alts have 1 point in blacksmith hirelings and both of them get their once every 24 hour email with blacksmith stuff coffers.

Once you spend a point, the 24 hour clock starts. I think the current method is buggy - ie you should get it every 24 hours whether you play the alt or not, you should get it whether you log in that day or not. Right now I believe you have to at least log in with that char that has the hireling points.

    1. I have 5 hirelings on my main and 3 hirelings on my 6 bank mules. I log into each bank mule and they get their 3 mails. I get all of theirs at the same time each day. My main, since I am on her more often, tends to get her hireling goodies throughout the day - as I log in/out. I very rarely get only 1 item in a bag. Usually I will get some of the main mat (cloth/leather/ore/wood) and a trait gem or race gem. Quite often an upgrade component including the gold upgrades:)

I agree with the above poster(s) that if you do not log in that day it should still send you the hireling goodies. Like yesterday, I was away in the evening and didn't collect my hireling mail from my alts - so I miss out on a day of hireling goodies.

    2. This appears to be a combat bug and has gotten me killed a few times. I have heard opening the menus or hitting esc twice will fix it (may fix it).

Having just logged in with each character with a hireling, it seems that the mail doesn't arrive until you log the hirer in, but once it has you can access the mail and the chest from any char on the account. However, I am not sure that the login behaviour is consistent over time.

Whichever way you look at it, it is a bit of a mess. And we REALLY need better storage.
