Level 41 already

Earlier today I saw a group of high-level players and one was level 41!

How on earth could anyone have reached that level already? Even if I was playing 24x7 I don't see how it's possible in just a couple of weeks?
  • RosaDamascena
it's very possible :) I'm only palying a few nights a week and on 49 atm

There are those that are veteran rank 10 as well, I'm veteran rank 1 myself, reached 50 in 2 weeks time. It doesn't take long to level up to 50, it's from 50 that the levelling starts taking some time.

I think you have seen much higher ranks than 41 but you didn't notice

I take my time, listen to ALL dialogue, and occasionally walk... I'm level 44 and I'm not even in my faction's final zone yet. I already out-level the first section of the last zone...

Level 41? Right. There are many characters already climbing the Veteran ranks, I think a few Rank 5 or 6 or thereabouts in the rather casual guilds I am in.

Spending 2 hours a day online obviously isn't the same as spending 12 or 18 every day, neither is the same truly rushing to the top, ignoring everything else but gaining exp.

I have no idea why / if this would be important. Everyone have their style and agenta, and fortunately ESO is the kind of game that provides a high degree of freedom and great gaming experience through the levels, unlike many MMOs where the leveling process is just a triviality towards achieving the cap / endgame etc content. Personally, I am quite happy we have this choice and the main reason I am in ESO and enjoying it, and I hope it stays this way.

If you are exploring A LOT, gathering resources, looking for chests to open, fishing and reading books; you can not level to 50 in two weeks. I prefer to enjoy the game, explore and read lore quickly; I'm on level 42.

I think those who hit Vet 10 already have missed a lot of good read and fun side quests.

Well, if people are achieving that level so quickly, I wonder how long they'll actually be willing to play the game. If people buy a year's subscription and advance at that level, they'll be more powerful than god. Which isn't much fun in a game, really.

The game doesn't end at 50, or at VR10 even, there are literally tons of things to do. Research per example, I have 1 left on flame staff and that will take me 25 days to complete.

So I don't think there are too few things to do as per now to last for some months.

    It depends on the player.
For me, the less pve i am FORCED to do the longer i will play this game.
Mind you the quests are very well made, much better than your average MMO, its just not the thing for me, i cant wait to be VR10 and dedicate myself to pvp.

I've got 1 character at vet rank 1, 3 in their teens and a couple at level 10.

I see more vet ranks running around than anything else in Cyrodiil.

It's gameplay style. A quester, exploring type that reads the lore and such and plays a normal few hours a week can't get to those levels.

These high levels got there by grinding exp on the most efficient exp sources and it has little to do with story and are people that are able/willing to play for 6-14 hours a day.

This is just not possible, the ONLY way to level up your veteran ranks is questing, questing, questing...
Grinding mobs is pointless unless you do it for the loot.

I didn't say mobs and yes, in the beginning it was grinding bosses. There was level 50 players after day one of early access.

It's how they get there.. max exp leveling or huge hours of play.

Im veteran rank 3. It was certainly not by playing 24/7 since i have a fulltime job as well. There was actually a few people who hit 50 within just 24 hours.

It's very possible to hit 41 by now. The game's progression rate is quite in line with the progression rate about 7 years ago (prior to the current trend of a lot of MMO's providing inadequate content resulting in speeded up progression rates).

Different people have different rates of progression. Whilst on the one hand, some might focus on lots of things like crafting AND adventuring (reading every quest and pouring over all of the lore books and scrolls) as well as progressing multiple alts at the same time. On the other hand, there may be others who skip past dialogue, don't "roll alts", don't craft and only read the "bridge notes" for quests that show up on the tracker.

Neither rate is right or wrong it is what it is. In my opinion, one shouldn't get hung up on the progression rates of others in an MMO. Just enjoy what YOU are doing and how you are doing it. If you are enjoying yourself, nothing else matters.

I think the ones that got VR10 exploited some way...it just doesn't seem possible to get that rank that fast unless you played all day every day, no eat, no sleep, no job.

I'm talking a few days ago too...I just did get level 50 finally and I felt like I put so many hours into the game even with work, I would pull all nighters on the weekend too and I started at the 5 days early access.

If it is possible without exploiting or cheating in some way to get VR10 so fast, anybody mind explaining?

That kinda cuts to the heart of my question. I simply don't believe that's possible in normal gameplay, so they were obviously doing something else. I think Etchasketch has explained that though.

For the first days veteran rank monsters gave exp, and i mean REAL xp, and thats how the very first rank10s got there.

However this was "fixed" and everyone else is getting close to zero xp from monsters, leaving us to grind quests and dungeon clears to level up.

Having a middle ground (questing and fighting as an effective way to level up) wouldnt hurt.

As I understand you can level VR ranks pretty well in PvP.
You should anyway as plenty of people prefer it.
