The thread is about getting a full /ignore list caused by people spamming, rather than simply goldsellers. The constant influx of guild recruiting, wts, wtt and wtb is far more common - and downright annoying - than goldsellers, to be honest. You can't follow a conversation or ask/answer a question because by the time you've typed something 4 or 5 people have decided they want to advertise their guild or buy/sell something. The chat window can be a blur sometimes.Lazarus_Long wrote: »The auto-ignore add-ons are nice, but the API for add-ons lacks the ability to build in auto-reporting. So even if you have an unlimited ignore list with it, it doesn't do much to solve the problem at a root level. With an add-on like that you won't even see it to be able to report it.

The problem with Trade channels is that, invariably, hardly anyone would use them. People would rather have the biggest audience they can find and beat the saps (as they see it) who stick to the Trade channel to the punch so they spam the main chat channel. This has been the case in the dozens of mmorpgs I've played in the last 15 years.Lazarus_Long wrote: »I do think that adding a trade channel or even a trade channel just for guild members would limit WTB and WTB spamchat would be good. But from my own experience more the 75% of my ignore list has been gold sellers. I see more people complain about it than any other kind of chat spam.
Read "As for goldsellers, I /report the variants that get past my filters. After that, job done, I add the variant to my filters and then I'm just glad I don't have to see them any more." again, carefully.Strontium-Dog wrote: »Spam filter addon doesnt help things really because all it does is *ignore* or filter which means if we all use it no bot/spammer gets reported.
An addon such as X4DLibAntiSpam is the answer. I quote from the addon description...
Does not fill up your in-game ignore list, blocking is performed internally.
Whitelists your Friends, Group Members and Guild Members.
Spam Patterns are Editable via Settings UI.
Detects Spammers, and blocks them for the duration of your session.
Detects Flooders, and temporarily blocks them for a user-configurable duration.
Detects "Gold Spammer Guild Invites" and auto-declines them.
Can be used as a Library by other Add-Ons, such as X4D Chat (integration requires Add-On author support.)
Can be used as a stand-alone Add-On to auto-filter Spammers and Flooders from Chat.
Since it does not add to the ignore list, I added foreign words for "guild" as well as others such as wtt, wts and wtb to the filter list and the result is a much quieter chat box. If someone makes a chat post containing those words, the posts don't appear. If the same person makes a chat comment without those words in it, their chat post will appear.
(The addon is frequently updated, sometimes a couple of times a day or more.)

Even if there was a Guild Recruitment channel almost no-one would use it because they' too, want to reach as many people as possible. The five or six line guild spiels, one after the other from various people, annoy me more than goldsellers, tbh.
As for goldsellers, I /report the variants that get past my filters. After that, job done, I add the variant to my filters and then I'm just glad I don't have to see them any more.
