Anyone know of any good abilities to use for an AOE/ High burst sorc with a destruction staff?

And what should I put my attributes in all health? then use 7/7 light armor?

Really doesn't matter whether you put your attributes into health or magicka. If you don't put attributes into magicka, you will need to use light armour as you say, and probably also use a few enchants/traits and/or mundus stone.

Right now, I am using Clannfear and Winged Twightlight on summon. Crystal Shard and (The one that knocks enemies back) using flame on a destruction staff. I can keep knocking enemies back away from me, hitting them with crystal shard (Knocking them down some more) and my summons chip away and some times tank a little.

The Strom Atronach ultimate comes in handy for bosses Sometimes elites are too powerful for the knockback effect, but I survive very well. This is by far my best character so far.

So, In short. My thoughts were...How can I keep melee mobs at a distance..and survive in light armour?

I just hit Level 17 and now working on restoration staff a little for groups.

Mages are good, in my experience so far. My favourite because I feel I can utilize her well. I never even usually use mage on mmos.
