"You should die, you are worthless" or some such

So the title is a recollection of what I now often hear when I kill something in Auridon at around level 23. I kill something and there is some evil-sounding male voice saying I should die or whatever. So what is that? Does that have something to do with becoming a vampire/lycanthrope? Did I do some quest that resulted in this?

It's a side-quest, a cursed medallion. Check your quest list it will tell you.

TBH I thought this was a nice new twist to add to the game, and if I hadn't been listening to the quest giver, it really would've creeped me out.

I sound too harsh in my initial post. I figured it was some quest and I thought it was cool at first. But now I am sick of it and started to think my character is becoming schizophrenic. Thanks for the clue to which quest it is. I'll try and complete it ASAP.

In the same vein, my favorite was the quest where you had to reassemble a skeleton and the whole time the skull you have with you is cracking jokes. heh heh.

Wait a second...that was a side quest that did this? For me it started as soon as I looted the staff from the undead fella in Greenshade? Val something or other.

Was walking away and it said "you should be the one to die".

Odd....did that trigger the quest? Never heard it again once I decon'd his little staff with the "emanates an aura of despair" effect.

I believe it is a quest in Grahtwood. When you complete the quest it stops

The quest sends you to the jeweller who made the amulet, and is triggered when you find/search a skeleton to receive the amulet.

And as @mmdartzb14_ESO states the quest is indeed in Grahtwood.

I had that happen to me, it creeped me out but it was a nice twist.

When you click on a skeleton of a man who committed suicide (by hanging) not too long ago, you loot a cursed medallion.

It has the power to make you feel guilty for killing and is trying to make you commit suicide.

Complete this quest and you return the medallion to the one who created it and you get the choice on making the creator destroy it, or to commit suicide himself.

Yeah, that quest made me laugh. The voice taunted me and my reply was "Nope, don't feel bad at all. Who else can we kill?"

I thought Molag Bal was speaking to me from my mind as part of the story. Was a pretty cool effect, sad it was just for that quest though.

I see. I have not completed the quest yet I am sure. Which brings me to one of the things that both annoys me and delights me: I head out to do a quest and along the way I come across a quest giver. I listen to what this quest giver has to say and accept the quest, but then go on and try to complete the quest I sent out to do. Next thing I know I have like 15 quests in my journal. So I've had this guy telling me I am the one who should die every time I kill something. LOL. My bad.
