Destruction staff count as destruction spells?

Anyone know if when you use a destruction staff does that count as a destruction spell or do you have to be a Sorc and use destruction spells to get the passives from the staff line?

    I believe it does.

The entire point of the staff line is to boost your staff abilities. So yes, the passives will benefit your destruction staff abilities. If anything, I'd think that Sorc skills would get zero benefit from skills from the destruction staff line, excepting general boosts to magicka regen, etc.
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

Every weapon passive clearly states ontop of their description "WHEN USING X" where X is the weapon type.
"M'aiq thinks his people are beautiful. The Argonian people are beautiful as well. They look better than ever before."

Do the passive abilities of the Destruction staff work with Storm Calling?

Yes it does. Here is how you can separate what is classified as what. If your weapon class skill uses stamina, it is considered and labeled as ' melee ' by the game, or physical damage. If your weapon class uses magicka (?) then it is using spell and magic damage overall.

And yes, bows are melee to the game, if you got confused about that.

    @Lizard_man
Passives that refer to 'Destruction Spells' will not include the storm calling spells - they don't count as destruction spells, they just count as storm calling spells (unfortunately for my staff wielding sorc :( )

Ok, just as a final confirmation. ALL passives of the destruction skill line apply to your basic destruction staff light and heavy attacks, correct?

Also, Destruction Staff damage is determined by Stamina, not magika? (Not the skills, just the light and heavy attacks)

Destruction staff is part of the weapon skill line and can be used by any class regardless, all you have to do is have a destruction staff equipped. To level faster you need to have some destro spells as well on the bar, but just killing things with the destro staff alone grants XP.

Class specific spells are under the class section of the skill tree and are specific to the class, but it is not tied up to the weapon specifics. As a sorcerer I've picked up a restoration staff and gotten a lot of healing spells and am able to heal pretty well in dungeons. I can also at any given time just get some medium armour and get a bow and go ranger if I like.

So sum the whole up; weapon skill lines are separated from the class skill lines and can be learned by anyone with the appropriate weapon.

But that's not what I asked...

Do all the passives of the destruction staff also work for your standard attacks (light and heavy staff firing)

Does your standard staff attacks (light and heavy) rely on Stamina or Magika for their damage? I know for my knives and daggers on my nightblade, Stamina is what determines the damage output. Someone else on here mentioned that your staff and bow are also considered melee weapons, but I needed confirmation of what actual attribute increases my standard attack damage.

Sorry, my mistake. If you read the passive of destruction staff, they rely on the use of destructions spells to function (except the ultimate recharging).

When it comes to how you deal damage, the attacks are related on your spellpower which comes from magica. Both light and heavy attacks on a destruction staff is either frost, lightning or flame, and they change your spells in the destruction spell tree. You don't do any actual melee with a destruction staff so stamina is rather useless for a destruction staff wielder.

Ok, because the people above you said things completely different, it threw me off.

Stamina description says it impacts all weapon damage and a staff is considered a weapon. Someone I think tested this in another post.
