Help Me Hybrid? Templar

Militarizedb14_ESO
I know there a multitude of ways to do things in this game, which I really enjoy, but is it feasible for me to dps and off-heal? Does the action bar limit not allow this?

I basically wanted to build a Ret Paladin from WoW(I know, the hated game). It was more of a philosophy than wanting to imitiate it completely.. a pure hearted warrior using the light, 2handed preferably dpsing his way through stuff.

I feel like with the magicka consumption I get tied down with not being able to heal due to running out from using the spear/dawn of fire(fireball thingy). I tried mixing in 2handed weapon skills but they don't feel as powerful, the uppercut is the only one I really liked but it takes so long for it go through it's completely useless in pvp it feels like.

Should I have dual-wielded/sword and boarded? Or did I mess up by spreading my skills around in the dps/tank/healing trees too much and mitigate transforming some of the higher level dps/tank stuff into something useful?

Fellow Templar here. Too be honest, I was trying to go for the same build but I just ended up having to use a Resto Staff to manage my Mana, and my magicka level is stupidly high. I think my split right now is 8/3/1. I do a lot of magical damage with the spear, and DoT with other spells. But my health is a problem sometimes.

Resto staff has passives that regen magicka you mean? Cause the skills cost mana as well.

I kept my stat line fairly even, 2:1:1 pretty much. Sometimes a 3:1:1 and I'm level

My health is a problem as well, which is why I thought the offhealing would be nice but it's just so costly magicka wise... the double charge from 2handed/aedric spearline seems redundant as well. The magicka charge seems a bit buggy too so I've stuck to the 2handed stampede.

Just keep in mind that, weapon passives only benefit the active skills of the weapon you are weilding.

    My discussion about synergies

The paladin concept you posted, can't be applied in this game as the melee weapons use a different resource which is stamina. In other words, if you want to focus on a weapon for attacking and blocking, and on your class skills for healing, you'll need to split your stats in order to attack/block/heal.

Although, if you prioritize the healing role, splitting your stats can be harmfull as magicka might be the most volatile resource.

This is why I was trying to stick with two handers, in both of my bars, I only put skills into 2 handed weapons. I split my points into magicka/health/stam but I always felt like I ran out of magicka while dpsing to the point where I either used it to dps with the weapon like I wanted and not be able to offheal like I wanted... or use the 2 handed dps abilities and just use the healing abilities.

Having alot of +magicka didn't seem to help much, it felt like skills took a percentage of my pool rather than the amount stated.

Someone in my guild suggested that I use more light armor than heavy armor, something about Templars not having a passive magicka regen like other classes?

Aye, that person is right. Light armor can help you with the magicka starvation.
It is wise to wear and level up more than one kind of armor at the same time.

Get good gear is a must, my magika regen is OC just by having necklace and 2 rings of the warlock and the magic buff comes in handy. I think this build works extremely well but is mostly designed for 1v1 when you are offensive. Reflective light gives you a good AOE dot. Go with 2her Critical Charge and match it with Binding Javelin. This allows you to knock-back with stun and get a second charge in always doing critical. You can then follow up with your uppercut as they recover giving another knock-back. Another cool thing about uppercut is combining it with sneak attacks 2x physical damage and since you are sneaking the charge up time doesn't matter. My main is exactly this build a 2h DPS/ Healer. This build works good as you have a pool of stamina skills for DPS and a pool of Magika for heals and ranged damage. You just have to manage your combos and know when to swap out hotbars. My only problem so far is not getting a heal off soon enough or getting overwhelmed by a zerg. Enjoy your Templar it can do it all!
