Blue Lore Books before joining Mages Guild lost?

Hello all!

I noticed something unusual...

I collected around 4 blue lore books, the ones that increase Mages guild level. I forgot to join the mages guild while doing so, after going back and picking up the guild and quest, I noticed my Mages Guild Rank had only 10 exp on it... did collecting these books prior to joining the guild screw me out of these books exp?

Maybe (most likely), but 4 books doesn't equal 4 levels, it would've been very minimal. Not enough to even get to Level 2. I wouldn't worry too much about it as they're everywhere, and you'll find tons more while exploring the game.

Yeah, it appears each blue book gives 5 exp, no where near a lvl, but still that would be 20 or so points out of the 100 or what not needed... a good start. I think that is a messed up game mechanic if I was robbed of those book points lol

Well if you think about it, who was receiving the lore from those books? if you hadn't joined the Mage's guild by then, they wouldn't have gotten them

Then they should not allow you to "collect" them at this point then right? ;-)

It should be retroactive and while I am not sure you get 100% credit, I can't think of good reason you wouldn't. I saw a post about this topic a few days ago and a guy said he waited till level 30-something to join and his rank jumped from 1 to 7 in an instant. I suggest searching the forums and looking for guides to provide you with a definitive answer.

If you talk to someone in the Mages Guild later and you aren't in Davon's Watch at the main hall they'll ask about the books you've collected. So it does appear to be retroactive and it takes into account what you have picked up.
