Grinding groups vs. grinding bots

The other day I was roaming around The Rift and came upon a group of players, or what I thought were players. There were about 10 - 15 just circling a camp killing everything they could. My first thought was that this was a group of bots farming items to sell for gold. Later I discovered that there are groups of players who will do this for the same reason, or for gear and other items. The problem is trying to determine which one is really legit.
I see it every day in chat how we all hate bots. But I must say that when players get together and do this… well… you look just like a bot. So be careful. Just some friendly advice.

Bots usually have names like adjsfadj or garbage like such. Another thing is bots often wont reply or react when you talk to them. Sometimes there is one player with a bunch of bots that follow that player who kinda watches over those bots which is a new tactic they have been using since people have been leading trains of mobs into them to get rid of them. I and my friends will often camp mobs or areas but when we do we horse around when we are waiting we rarely just stand there doing nothing. Also a key is bots do not do inventory management and thus they never open their bag and dig around inside of it. Overall its not all that difficult to differ between bots and humans I have seen some players beginning to resort to bots in order to try and defeat the bots but this is a complete fail in strategy IMO.

Don't get me wrong... I can clearly see a difference in the two except for when they are running in circles killing everything that moves. That's what is confusing.

Bots are usually easy to spot. Firstly, they have INSTANT reaction time to everything! They move non-stop, and of course never do anything of a social nature, even if it's just jumping for the fun of it or zig-zagging a bit as they run around.

I love the tactic of drawing mobs to the packs of bots if only to cause the player handling them the tiniest of headaches.

    I don't think bots/machines get headaches.

    The player handling them would.

Just trying /saying something to them. If they can respond in a way that makes sense, they're probably not bots. Just people playing the game in the most boring way possible.

They wouldn't be a bot then would they. They'd be a farmer. Bots are completely automated and don't have humans playing them.
