Where do we find the second half of the Imperial crafting ingredients?

mandrakethebard_ESO
So, I worked hard to get myself up to level 50 Provisioning, and then to get the necessary spare skill points to afford to jack up my ability to use all the recipes. Now, I've gone into Cyrodiil and nosed around a bit, done some quests, attacked/defended some locations... and all the while, I've been collecting material from every single box/bag/whatever that I find. I have a huge collection of half of the ingredients needed for the Imperial recipes... Bervez Fruit, Jazbay Grapes, HoneyComb, etc. The problem is that I've seen nothing of the other half, the Emperor Grapes, Pinguis, Imperial Flour, Imperial Stock, etc. So, where are they?

Is there someplace special we have to go, do we have to reach a particular rank first, are they only found in the intestines of 24-and-half-year-old virgins sacrificed by the light of a Waxing Crescent Moon, what?

I'd appreciate if someone could enlighten us, if they've found out. Thank you.

THIS QUESTION WAS ASKED AND ANSWERED ALMOST A YEAR AGO. NO FURTHER RESPONSES ARE REQUIRED. THANK YOU.

you can buy these off "Grociers". I dont know which Alliance you belong to, but as a EP player iv found 2 npcs that sell these in veteran zones. One of them is located at Alcaire Castle in Stormhaven. I dont remember if you had to finish this node and its quest chain for him to appear, but he is there.

The other one is located in Karbols Hallow in Bangkorai. You do a questchain there as well.

saying this, i have never gotten these ingredients anywhereelse in the world. but hopefully this helps you make some food you have plenty of other ingredients for.

For DC players - last AD zone (Reapers's March, VR5), Dune Wayshrine, Four-Toes is a grocer that sells these. He's right by the wayshrine. 63g apiece.

Not sure if any other is available beforehand, he's the one I found. I had done all quests in the area before I looked for him, so I can't say if he's always there or you have to complete some chains.

You can and do find them in the world just not in the same quantities as the other ingredients.

I'm not doubting you, but there appear to be many other players (I include a number of in-zone encounters here), not merely myself, who have seen none of these ingredients... not few, none. That seems on first inspection to be somewhat aberrant. I wonder if you could perhaps give us a clue as to what zone and what level and/or alliance or veteran rank you were when you first encountered them.

I initially presumed that my relatively low level (I don't get to play a lot and I'm a hardcore RPer) of 19 and my Alliance rank of 2 might be the deciding factors in this equation, but after hearing from some other people I'm beginning to wonder if there's more to it.

I generally find a few (2-3) when doing sweeps of cold harbour main city for ingredients. That being said when I need to make a recipe in large quantities I just buy them from the grocers

Thanks for this, though I must confess that I find this answer lacking... or at least disappointing. I would much prefer that the ingredients be harvestable, rather than a drain on one's gold reserves. The fact that beneficial items might be gained by a judicious input of effort into finding (not purchasing) the necessary ingredients has been one aspect of the Crafting system in ESO that I've been greatly enjoying, both from a practical and a roleplaying perspective.

i agree with you. and the extra ingrediants you need which you buy of the grociers are not cheap, let me tell you that much..

im going to VR6 zone soon, ill let you know if anything changes there. who knows, maybe the crates and barrels there have the highest lvl of provisioning ingrediants.

i just finished ebonheart pact and im now in glenumbra... and as I am looting things, I am noticing that pretty much everything i loot is V1 crafting stuff, like for alchemy or enchanting, etc... all the nodes in this DC newbie zone/ EP V1 zone are looting for me as V1 stuff.... EXCEPT for provisioning.

ALL the provisioning stuff I have found in this V1 area is the level 1-10 stuff. I think someone forgot to update the materials that drop for provisioning when they copy pasted this zone. Not sure how it is past this area, but for sure these are the newbiest of materials, NOT V1 stuff.

Found one Imperial Flour in a backpack in Cyrodiil. Perhaps these are just really rare?

My question to you is : where did you find these recipes ? It is my experience that recipes drop based on your character level, and if you are only lvl 19 then I don't understand ;)
  • mandrakethebard_ESO
I'm guessing that you weren't a pre-order. During the first several days (during the early access period before April 4) all of those Imperial recipes were dropping for everyone... very commonly, in fact.

Anyway, I wasn't sure if there was going to *be* a level-based requirement for the ingredients since, as I initially bemoaned, half of the ingredients are dropping just by being in Cyrodiil. It is looking from the responses I've seen, however, that the ingredients are dropping in locales that are inaccessible to lower level characters.

I can understand how some of the ingredients would not be available to you at lvl 19. Characters cannot consume the crafted item until vet ranks. If you're a true RPer, then you can't expect your character to be crafting those kinds of items at the current level.

Also, if ESO did allow access to all of these ingredients in starting/early game zones, that would only benefit gold farming.

Having played the game now for several weeks and made it into VR ranks, the amount of gold for the required ingredients as stated above is certainly not excessive. I have not listed one item in a guild store for sale, nor have I sold anything in game chat channels. And at VR1, I had about 100,000 gold just from quests and vendoring items. Gold is not hard to come by.

LOL Oh my, I do believe you're a bit condescending here. Not that it matters, but it just so happens that as a "true RPer" I tend to play my characters very much in the rogueish vein... traveling paths where I'm not expected, collecting items that weren't meant for me, you know the sort of thing... and I did travel over into Bangkorai (VERY carefully) while still around level 12 just to see what was there. I'm not a powergamer, my fun comes from experiencing every bit of content bit by bit, not racing blindly towards level 50 like... well, like you. :)

In any case, those facts have nothing to do with my original question. I was just curious. But I do believe that I have somehow actually *offended* you by asking questions 'beyond my station.' That's so *cute*

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy yourself in the veteran content. I'll be joining you when I get around to it. No hurry. Cheers.

Hah I just got online to search about this because I had the exact same experience, I'm pretty sure this is a glitch, or a programming complication, because provisioning is the only profession negatively impacted like this.

I'm going to submit a bug request because I truly feel like they should fix this to make those mats droppable in zone. But I will also start buying out every grocer I see.

The funny thing about all this is Provisioning has been by far the most broken tradeskill and still is. They had the launch where VR5 recipes were dropping in the 1st zone. Then the exp/gold rewards for Provisioning were disproportionately high. I was a Level 50 Provisioner at about Level 20, and I was around 12-15 with all other tradeskills. Now this.

    Get it together Tyrone.

Many of these items can be purchased from the Grocer in Coldharbour, who is in a building very near the bank in Hollow City. You will pay 63 or so gold for each single item, though.

The same problem persist in the VR6-10 zones. All the provisioning ingredients you find are low-level. Like you, I figured it's a goof up and will eventually be fixed in a patch. That means you can't gather useable mats as you quest. It sure does suck to not be able to find mats for provisioning unless you go back to your old faction's final zone. Very time-consuming

LOL Oh my I do believe i see a "true RP'er" metagaming on a message board to find out in game information their character couldn't possibly know. I'm pretty sure a true RP'er would be exploring the in game world slowly and carefully for the answers to this question...

Unless you're in some mad powergaming rush to get somewhere XD? End game content?

I'm still level one by the way. Will be for the next 6 months. I'm role playing mining a node and it turns out it takes more than 2 swings of a pick to get that iron out of the rock. Have fun in Cyrodill speedy Gonzalez!

I'm VR11 and I've looted every crate, sack and barrel between Kenarthi's Roost and Bangkorai. I've never found a single instance of Emperor Grapes, Pinquis, Imperial Flour or Imperial Stock in the world. I'm not saying they don't exist completely, but the drop rate is so low it is irrelevant.

As some have pointed out you can buy them from some of the higher level grocers. I've read (but not personally confirmed) the grocer in Coldharbour has most of these. You may find this thread useful: http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/grocers-sharing-locations-topic/

    Also, WTB Pinguis.

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

LOL. My provisioner is game level 14. He makes everything. My son just found the legendary Consummate Sweetroll and he makes that although my son is level VR3 so and won't be able to use it til VR5.

I have an army so it's not really comparable to most people's problems but yes ... the grocers. It is part of any provisioner's task and you gotta find them. As I said I have characters out there, the highest at level 40 but we do get around.

You get: Oats and Tomatoes only from a hireling. All the Imperial stuff, only from a grocer and some other stuff as well is grocer specific.

They are around. You will need to check out all the merchant areas to find them. I will give one good one away. Eyevea ... well you will have to get there. ;)

No one works hard to level a provisioner. Mine's been maxed out for a while. It's by far the easiest craft in the game to level. Now my Enchanter just got level 17, that is a big deal. ;)

Well to me it looks like there are certain ingredients that you have to buy for the purple recipe's over level 50 and certainly the Imperial stuff.

I wonder if that Imperial stuff drops if you buy Imperial edition of the game!

There are quite a few lower level provisions that can be made and give a good buff for the level that you are at and they are found quite easily except that there is always one ingredient for consummate recipes that is rare and another that is hard to get.

The crafting writs seem to know what recipe's you have and give quests with those. There is good gold for crafting writs and you only have to make simple provisions. Usually you will get useful ingredients as a reward.

Guess what though. It's likely to all change in v6

Thank you, brimits, for your attempt to answer this question. However, this post is so incredibly out of date that I wonder how anyone even came across it.

Please people, let this thread die. This question was asked and answered ages ago, during the first half of the first month of the game's life.

    Thank you.
