Not doing a quest one way, can it bar you from skill point? (spoiler alert)

Was curious about this, as some quests you have options. Maybe 1, 2 or 3 even, but what I want to know is, (for quests that do offer skill point) if you choose lets say the "wrong" answer for that specific quest, can you lose your chance on gaining an extra skill point? Or will you always get the skill point (if it is offered) as long as the quest is completed?

While only a dev (or a deranged altaholic with a single faction fetish) could give you a 100% accurate answer to this, I am reasonably certain that you get the skill point. Whatever you choose to do is the right thing, for you. What sort of a game would it really be if the game made you complete quests the "right" way to get the skill points?

I know of at least one quest where based on your choice you get either one skill point and a blu destro staff or 2 skill point... well... if it was an end game item it would have been fine... but the fact that at the same level you also get from a really similar quest (I don't want to spoil anything...) a PURPLE WEAPON OF CHOICE make the 1 skill point plus weapon rewar really underwelming when compared with the 2 skill point option -_-' (obviously I discovered the discrepancy in quest reward after completing it... and as you can gues... I selected the option that gave me the staff -_-' ... and I wasn't even planning to use a staff at that level -_-' )

Thats the kind of thing i was afraid of...i want to get every possible skill point i can.

absolutely not. My husband and I have been purposely choosing opposite quest choices and the actual reward has changed some times but you always get a skill point if you are supposed to. dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

I think the poster commenting on 2 skill points is misinformed.

If I'm thinking of the right quest, that quest is a moral choice. You either choose the selfish option (extra skill point) or the non-selfish option (save a life). Not going to spoil the quest with too much detail, though.

Well about two skill points it's a last quest of mage guild. And 100% that because of your choice you can have 2 skill points or...

or you didn't notice the difference in reward ^^ i also did the same thing with the friend I'm questing with... and when he went: "wow this quest paid me 2 skill point" ... I went "I got a blue stuf that I don't know what to do with"

if you want to know the specific quest it is
The mage guild last quest where shegorath makes you chose between freeng Valeste from madness (this choice award the blue staff and 1 skill point) or let Valeste go to shivering island and thake the book of knowledge (this choice award 2 skill point... actualy he even hint at the additional skill point reward in the dialog when he say that the book have as much knowledge and power inside of it as a dozend of skyshard) ... at the same time the Fighter guild quest on the same level award a purple rarity weapon of choice (actualy here the choice is limited between sward, bow, desto staff and 2handed sward)

PS: next time you want to say that someone else is wrong you better double check your basis or ask him for futher information ^^

i wonder if this is the only quest around that does that type of thing.

It's the only one I've come across so far (granted only level 36 at the moment).

I will say that the difference in reward was pretty well stated prior to choosing (though it remained lore-friendly, but was easy to figure out what they meant). So it definitely isn't some surprise that you do or do not get the extra skill point.

Can anybody confirm how many quests do give you a choice between a skill point or an item/armor piece? I would like to not miss out on skill points if anybody can provide that info. I know 1 quest is in the mages guild and its torwards the end.

Let me know, now that were a month into the game, i don't mind the spoilers.

Yes, you can miss 2-3 skill points. What is the problem? I have maxed out bow, one handed-sword, racial skills, class skills halfway, 2 crafting skills, medium armor and i still have 50 skill points left and still have the complete EP area to do and some of AD.

I knew (through my wife) that the maged guild would give 2 if you do the right choice. I deliberate chose the other because it felt better that way.

Also if you read the quests (or listened) you knew the reward would be equal to 6 skyshards if you did choice nr 1.

The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Im sorry , but i find what you said here hard to believe.

The said 2 skills points seem quite lost ot me unless you make a certain call (im guessing we all know this by now).

You are sure that you got those later in some way?

The two skill points is from one specified quest, here you are clearly told that the evil choose give you two skill points.
Pretty much like doing an evil daedra prince quest in skyrim gave you an good item.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
