Email Verification VS Dyanic IP

I don't know who thought of this email verification deal but we need to 86 that one ASAP. Dynamic IP kind of makes it a pain in the ass when it thinks my system is new every couple of hours or so and I have to check my email for a code.

Email verification, additionally, isn't the most secure (understatement).

I never like to leave negative feedback without positive feedback though - TESO still blows everything else out of the water B)

If your isp is changing your IP every two hours, there's a severe bug with your router or their config, not the game - pretty much every mmo these days using this kind of verification system (tho several offer options to turn it off).

Most every isp using dynamic IPs these days, but in general as long as you don't power down your modem, they shouldn't change more then once a week.

Especially not every 2 hours, thats short of a lease is just not normal. It would caues unneccesary addition load on your isp to do that. (and even renewing the lease shouldn't change you IP anyways)

Check your modem/router config. Somtimes you can increase your dhcp lease time yourself. (tho manys isps lock it down, mine does since its fiberop and can renew nearly instantly anyways)

Personally had the same IP for months now, and my isp uses dynamic IPs too.

Thank you for your reply Axer,

While I realize that's not "normal" I have it refresh often for many reasons, as well, I know many people who have frequently refreshed dIP's.

That is true, most MMOs do have it, but like you said they provide the option to disable. I'm aware of how email verifs work and I can definitely say with confidence they aren't the most secure and definitely aren't the most convenient method of account protection.

I'll get over it for now though, I understand the game is extremely new and I can't even complain with how smooth the release went. (Maybe I can complain about my maps/wayshrines never working!! :P)

    Best,

I for one am getting ready to cancel my account and delete the game off my mac because of the code entries. Takes up to an hour to receive the code and since I am a truck driver and have a different ip address each time I login, it is getting old having to wait so long for the code to get emailed to me. I really like ESO but this feature of the games has turned me off.
