One hand and magic?

I like this game, I think I could love this game.

I am a bit displeased with the skill lines though.
- Where is the One hand- skill line? What if I don't want to dual-wield or use a shield? I just want to use a one-handed weapon, maybe with magic in the other hand or nothing at all perhaps.
- Why is destruction and restoration bound to staves? What if I want to throw fireballs and shoot ice with my hands?

I'm probably going to get some kind of answer relating to balancing, but I still wanted to make the comment. This is one of the only problems I have with the game, and it's a big one for me. (The NPC mage in Mournhold that's playing around with a fireball whilst equipped with a sheathed one-handed sword was like a cruel joke to me hah).

Agreed, I think I heard something very early on after release about runes that you'd hold in your hands that let you cast spells from, which eventually became staves. I see no reason why they can't add something like this, it'd act just like a staff but instead make it look like you're casting with your hands. I'd like to be able to have a sword in one hand and a spell in another.
