Anyone know if any of the active abilities in One Handed & Shield skill line REQUIRED a shield to be equiped? I can dual wield and use say Shield Charge?

I'm pretty sure it would be disabled with DW.

Are you asking if you can not equip a shield and use an ability called shield charge?

No. Weapon abilities, both active and passive, are usable only when that specific weapon is equipped as a general rule of thumb.

Edit: There are passive that do seem to work, but I don't think anyone knows if this is by design or not. I *assume* it's not supposed to work in most cases

Thanks. that's what I was wondering. Don't want to spend a skill point to test it out since I am not going for 1H & Shield and am interested in some of the skills while I am a DW.

Not the case. I tested it during beta:
    1. A single one-handed weapon counts as Sword/Shield, so DW abilities will not work. It only counts as DW once you slot a second one-handed, and obviously, S/S abilities cease to work once you do.
    2. Despite the wording (and the dictates of common sense), numerous S/S passives and actives do in fact work sans shield (though I wasn't high enough level to test more than the first two actives). What's interesting with the passives is that the damage boosts require the shield, but the blocking boosts don't. Weird.
