Horses and stamina

Hey,

I've noticed you can sprint unlimited with a horse, even when the stamina bar is empty. Is this a bug or what benefits do you get when upgrading the stamina of a horse...?

I am guessing it's a bug. More stamina should give a hourse longer sprint times and reduce chance of getting knocked off when hit.
