Have Hirelings been nerfed?

Liekos

I have 5 mules with x3 Hirelings each (Clothing, Blacksmithing, Woodworking), and my main char has x1 Blacksmithing Hireling.

Tonight not a single one received any letters from any of them. Anyone know what the deal is..? They have been working fine..

I also submitted a "Ask for Help" ticket via email, which says "Wait Time 1 minute".

1 minute for what? Because no one has contacted me. Is someone supposed to message me in-game? Or am I waiting for support to email me back at some point (presumably MUCH longer than 1 minute wait time)?

Huh. I think I may have realized the issue, because my Hirelings are getting mails now.

Originally when I chose the skills for each it was around noon on the day I did it, so frankly I expected the hirelings to deliver either every day around that time - or at 12:01am the next day (etc).

But I just received todays' letters around 24 hours from the last time I opened Hireling letters on each character. So it sounds like they will deliver the next batch 24 hours after the last time you obtained the previous letters, not at either the midnight threshold nor every 24 hours since selecting the skills.

So I guess that begs the question if I don't play for a day, do I really get x2 days worth of letters, or just 1 days worth since I didn't log in and check for a day?

Hopefully they made it so that only one character on the account receives a package. Or will do so.

It's *** if they force players to make alts in order not to be behind

I'm receiving the hireling mails. However could be that they are nerfed since the things they seem to bring lately makes me think are they useful at all to use point into.

People like you make me laugh.. you go to all this trouble to setup alts with hirelings, trying to exploit the design of the game in the most *** way, which WILL eventually lead to design ideas being nerfed and ruining the game for everyone else.

The fact is, if you played the game, the actual game, you'd find that by lv 20 you'd have crafting mats coming out of your a... I'm at 23 now, I have stacks of 100 steel, oak and hide in my bank.. I have 1 hireling for blacksmith and one for cloth.

You're clearly trying to get rare drops.. but you'll get those anyway by deconstructing.

Play the game.. don't let the game play you.

They don't need to nerf the idea. They need to put some thought in it a 5 years old could do.

The problem is solved easily without nerfing anything.

See, this is what annoys me. People who don't like the way a system works because "they" don't take full advantage of it's benefits, but want to make sure nobody else can benefit either.

You are not going to be "behind" because you don't make several alts to gather extra mats. For one thing, you have the exact same options as everyone else does, you just choose not to take some of them. Secondly, there is no competition here in which you are "behind". People are not going to remember the name of the guy who crafted the first gold item, because who cares? They will remember the first gold item that they crafted though.

Yes! Thank you! At level 18 I have more mats than I want to or can deal with right now, and I'm happy with it. I have two hirelings, none on alts, and I haven't even opened most of the bags right now because I don't have the space for them.

But.... if you don't have a lot of time to play, farm for drops to deconstruct, gather mats, because you have a busy life, those extra hirelings from alts are a life saver. I am going to be there this summer, working full time, going to school full time, I'll be lucky to hop on for an hour a day. So those extra mats coming in from hirelings means I can keep up a crafting pace that I am happy and comfortable with when life becomes more important than gaming.

I am playing the game thilog ;). Level 22.

Hirelings aren't about the craft-able mats, yes I have plenty of those too. They are about the improvement mats.

And even then - most of my gear is already blue just from questing, and it's updated regularly - so it'd be a waste to use them yet. They are for future use for myself.

Every account gives you 8 characters, why wouldn't you use the extra to collect mats for you as you play the game?

Wrong. Gold items doesnt drop in game, can only be crafted, purples are rare but do drop, so no, you cant count on drops only to get upgrade materials.

Yet your character finds them after 24 seconds from arriving at the third area. :D

Sorry wasn't paying much attention to this post. In the last week, my hirelings haven't dropped a single improvement mat over green. They on avg give me some high iron ore and maybe 1 level 1 mat.. In a days gaming I can pickup 20-30 greens and maybe 10-15 blues. Deconstructing these usually gives me 10 green imp and 3-5 blue. The hirelings just aren't worth the effort, in fact, last night during my latest reroll of my char, i've removed hirelings and the points put into spotting resources. Now I can play the game, make armour or weapons in any material upto lv 30ish. With all the advantages ie reduce improvement mats, better chance and so on.

Wrong, they do drop from decon, I have 3 epic's from decon. As for gold, i'd expect they would also. You just haven't had any yet. I'm pretty confident that if you found 20 legendary items, you'd get 1 mat at least via decon. furthermore you don't even need gold drops until 50 minimum. would be a waste of time putting them into anything lower.

You def do not need to make alts with those just to keep up, if you extract all your loot you will actually be ahead in crafting vs your level

Also if you miss a day on a character login to get the bags you miss a day of loot you dont get 2x the amount if you wait 2 days to login on that character
