Where's Almalexia?

First: no, I'm not talking about the beloved Mother Goddess of Morrowind, Almalexia of the Tribunal. I'm talking about the city Almalexia... The capital of Morrowind.

If you're not familiar with the lore, Mournhold (the city featured in Deshaan), is a small temple/palace city inside Almalexia. In essence, Mournhold is the Vatican of the Elder Scrolls world, but it is no way a city that exists on it's own... It exists very much in the heart of the city of Almalexia, which, according to lore, "is absolutely ancient, possibly predating the Dunmer themselves".

So here's my question: where's Almalexia in the Elder Scrolls Online? It's not there at all, which is absolutely ludicrous. It doesn't detract from the game in any way, but as a huge fan of TES lore this is a pretty freaking huge oversight by the developers that could possibly threaten the existence of Almalexia as canon itself... Was the budget too low to include it, or something?

Well, the city of Almalexia was razed by Mehrunes Dagon and rebuilt at some point in its history. Maybe ESO takes place between these events, and Mournhold is all that's been rebuilt. Eventually, it will come to look more like the Mournhold of Tribunal.

Just speculation.

When I was riding toward the beautiful city, all I could think was... "da *** is almalexias?" yeah, it trouble me as well. and if it was raised by Dagon, A )there would be mention or B ) there would be old(maybe young actually) ruins at least.

Mournhold and Almalexia are ... almost the same city. They probably didn't bother differentiating between the two on the map for simplicity's sake.

not really. otherwise it would not be called the CITY of Almalexia it would more be the village of Almalexia. it is also kind of named after one of their three living gods, so its probably more glorious than a suburb.

Mournhold proper is within Almalexia, as I recall. It could be that rather than have Mournhold / Almalexia, they simplified it to just 'Mournhold'.

Well obviously that is what they have done. still doesn't mean it is right.

I guess the city of Almalexia would be as large as the whole map and they didnt want to spend that much budget

The city was destroyed at the end of the first era (600 years before eso). The lore is pretty vague concerning how and when it was rebuilt. In Morrowind: Tribunal (700 years after eso) we dont get to see whats outside Mournhold, and the game isnt too specific about it either.

in 600 years it would be repiared. it is named after a godess and if I am correct it is techinically the capital city, and not mournhold. also, we would at least see ruins.

I think of Almalexia (the city) as being the outer suburbs of Mournhold, which was added over the centuries since ESO in honour of Almalexia (the goddess). It seems plausible to me.
