Some basic MMO mechanics I would like to see in ESO

I want to start this by saying I HATED ESO in beta but release is a completely different game. I'm only level 20 right now but I am having more fun that any MMO in recent memory. While playing I had a few things pop up that I think would increase quality of life for some players playing. Most of these are more about immersion because Elder Scrolls has always been about immersion

1: An NPC where we can change our hair, makeup, beards, etc. Just cosmetic items. Not anything to change race or gender.

2: A dye system. I love the different styles of armor and the motif system but its crazy that almost everyone in certain zones have the same exact armors. Let us dye them, even if it is just a dozen basic dull colors. On this character I started as a Breton and I wore light armor and the robes had a nice green cloth material surrounded by brown leathers and furs. In mind mind it'd be awesome if I could have dyed the green cloth on it a different color

3: This one is probably the most 'out there' system and probably the hardest to implement but I would love to see an ABC music system like Lord of the Rings Online and Starbound. I know they have a very basic music emote with different instruments but if ANY MMO was calling out for an immersive music system, this is it. I know since we are all on super mega servers that RPers and NonRpers together are all thrown together but I think it would add more fun for everyone.

4: Speaking of Megaserver I'd absolutely see some way to have an RP instance that would try to throw people who had an /RP tag on their character together. Almost like how GW2 is going to start throwing people together in their instances who share friends, guilds, locations

5: Cosmetic armor slots. Let is have the stats of one piece of armor and use the look of others. This is one system that almost all modern day MMOs have and I'd love to see it in here.

Thanks for the awesome game. Can't wait to see what the future brings

    Dueling.

Dueling is a basic MMO feature and its absence is damn near inexcusable for me.

im not sure abbout the dye system

i mean you realy want to see Pink people runing arround ? would totaly break the immersion of the game...

if they implement armore coloring they need to limit the colors.......

Remember that the art style of TESO wouldn't allow for bright pink - So even if there was pink, it would be a more muted version and not a "punch in eyeballs" version

I think you are being a bit discriminatory, There is nothing wrong with pink. Presumably it would be quite easy to make pink dye from things like raspberries so I don't think it is out of context or immersion breaking. Indeed it would be nice to have more girly options for our outfits.

1 and 4 I'd like to see added to the game.

3 I think should be added as a part of an expansion, while perhaps adding a bard class or skill line at the same time. Allow anyone to play music, but bards do so as a means of combat support.

2 I would only want to see done using logical colours and tones (metal armour should always be a metallic colour, as an example). If this is held up, I am all for it.

5 I see no point in. It has a purpose in other games with wildly stylized equipment, but since ESO has gone for a more reality based artistic approach than the cartoonyness of some other games, most pieces of armour look somewhat acceptable together.

there are "cosmetic armour slots". its called the costume slot. you get costumes and disguises from various mobs and quests in the world and can use them whenever you want. so thats already in.

as for costume dyes, it would kill the whole realistic art style if I saw people running around in bright pink and purple and rainbow coloured armours.

regardless this has nothing to do with main quests.

1 and 4 are great ideas (I'm guessing 3 as well if I understood it correctly)

I do NOT like 5. That is what I experienced in SWTOR. It bothered me so much because eventually nobody uses the medium light or heavy armour, they just used an "adaptive armour" that you could change the mods and wear on low level characters. It was so boring.
Here in ESO I love how as soon as I reach a new even-level I get excited to go to the crafting station and upgrade all my gear. It's something that I cherish.

As for point number 2, I'd be alright with it. I don't dislike the current system, but I guess dyes would be nice. Obviously, if you are going to add dyes, please restrict the colour for the sake of immersion. Yes theres nothing wrong with the colour pink, but just like in SWTOR there were naked people around fighting with lightsabres, it can happen here with light pink and blue "warriors". It will break immersion, guaranteed.

yeah but not THAT kinde of pink on METAL armor..............

in a game like this it would poke your eye out soo hard.......

next thing we know we get Legendary Unicorn Barbie Bows that shoots Unicorns that fart Rainbows.........

im ALL for dyes but you need to restrict them or you will see rainbow heroes everywhere..... with oversaturated armor......

yes to most of it -- except to the cosmetic armor slot:

    yes to:
    1. hair cuts and hair colors (no major facial changes)
    2. dyes : not 100% ok with this, as you learn to craft an item according to its description book, therefore you respect a certain style, that belongs to that particular culture. Therefore altering that design is straying, slightly, from that.
    3. music : would be nice, some simple /lute /lute1 /lute2 would suffice to start with
    4. This indeed is a tough thing to do on megaservers. Making possible to manually switch instances would be the start of this.

Interacting a bit more with some environment would also help (setting fires, sitting on benches, setting camp, whatever...)

    5. NO to cosmetic armors. you already have a wide choice of crafting techniques, and in elder scrolls I always felt like you had, at some point, just to chose to wear those heavy metal pauldrons because the rock, even though you can't help but notice backstabbing people gets tricky when ennemies hear you coming

EDIT: YES to duels or any form of training for pvp combat. We're fighting a WAR and nobody trains for it??? You jsut send your soldiers with some basic siege weapon experience (though conratulatiosn zenimax on making such easy to use siege weapons, really felt like the AvA experience is easy to get its hands on)

I can agree with most of that in any stable game. Problem this game isnt' stable yet and that is where all of their focus needs to go right now.

As far as dueling I don't have a problem with it as long as they restrict it to specified locations, that way it isn't slowing down everything in the crafting area because 2 bone heads need a cyber woody and as long as they put an option in for me to automatically refuse every duel offered.
What is written above are my honest opinions. If you agree then; "Great!" If you disagree; "Great!" I really couldn't care less either way.

Target lock, is just not needed unless you just want to be lazy. I mean all you have to do is have your crosshairs near the target to light off a power, you don't need a hard lock system.

When I am fighting multiple monsters at once I can have a hard time staying focused on the target I want to sometimes. So while you may not need it, I unfortunately seem to.

I'm not sure. I have been using the mouse to target. I'll try using tab instead to see if it helps me ^^

Technically speaking, the server is already supposed to put people in instances with people they group with regularly/guildmates, etc. However since the system sometimes has problems putting 2 people who are in the same party into the same instance, that is prob not the case.

Maybe i'm being overly picky, but fashion is just a cultural construct.
For instance, up until as late as 1970's pink was actually considered a manly color, and blue was the more feminine. The reason for this, was when you bled on a white shirt and then washed it, it would come out pink. Thus pink was the color of battle. Not quite sure the reason for the switch though.

So, its quite reasonable to assume, that pink might also be considered a manly color in ESO. At least for cloth armor. Maybe not so much for leather or plate.

I tried using Tab. All it did was put a larger highlight on the target, and didn't help me stay focused on a target at all. So not sure why the Tab button was presented as a solution.

Some kind of locking or focus mechanism where I can retain my target after dodging etc. would be useful for me.

Absolutely agreed on the RP instance, barbershop, dyes and cosmetic armour slots. I'm partial about the music system.

Obviously both dyes and cosmetic slots need restrictions, but that can be easily implemented.

    Dye restrictions:
    - Colour palette must consist of the colours currently in game (so you could recolour your orichalc armour as steel, but not as bright purple for example).
    - Colour selection limited to material type (using a leather dye on heavy armour would only colour leather parts, a metal dye would only colour the metallic pieces).

    Cosmetic slot restrictions:

    - Must match with the actual armour type worn per location. That way people can't hide as cloth wearers while wearing heavy armour, but you could still choose the level based look.
PAWS (Positively Against Wrip-off Stuff) - Say No to Crown Crates!. Outfit slots not being accountwide is ridiculous given their price. PC EU/PC NA roleplayer and solo PvE quester
