Warriors and Mage guild lanes exp.

Can any 1 explain what am i doing wrong ?
Im trying to lvlup Warriors and Mages guilds skill lanes.
I have 1 active skill from each lane: Silver Bolt and Entrophy.
+ 1 Passive from each lane: Persuasive Will and Intimitating Presence.
Both of those active skills are on my main skill bar. I do use them in combat and always check that i have switched to my main skill bar before getting XP for quests and exploration.
Still both of those lanes barely getting any xp at all.

The Mage's and Fighter's Guild lines aren't leveled like the other skill lines. Check the tool tip by hovering your mouse over the top XP bar in each skill line. Fighter's Guild is leveled by killing undead and daedra, plus destroying dark anchors. Mage's Guild is leveled by finding lore books. I am at level 7 in each line and have yet to spend a point in either. I do believe however, that the abilities in each line follow the same method as class and weapon abilities(correct if I am wrong please). Soul Magic is similar, as it can only be leveled by completing the main story quests, but the abilities are leveled by having them on your bar.1
