Login From Unknown IP Address and PvE latency issues

This is starting to get really annoying, almost as much as lag death in PvE. It would seem that my connection has a considerable amount of DHCP churn, so I am sporadically denied access because somebody with less than a clue convinced you filtering authentication by IP would be a good thing to implement. The straws are starting to pile up, I don't know how much more of this I can bear. I have been a huge fan of Bethsoft's TES since III, but my patience is starting to wear thin... I am sure it doesn't help that my computer at home is connected to two different DHCP subnets, but even when I disable one or the other the problem persists...

I don't even DARE try the PvP area, I would be mudcrab fodder in seconds...

My ISP (AT&T California) uses a system that disconnects my DSL line from their servers if it is idle more than a couple of hours, and on connection chooses between 2 server locations, so I get a new and completely different IP every day or few. I'm used to just pulling my email on my phone when I get the prompt since the email arrives instantly. It was more annoying than usual yesterday since it took 5 minutes to get the code (due to all the forced authentication resets), but still manageable.

If this was causing problems I could set up a proxy on a machine I own with a static IP but at this point it would be more hassle than it is worth.

I would trade this for a 3-factor authentication system in an instant.

I have two separate accounts through the same provider (***), one personal, one commercial, both offer DHCP addresses on various subnets, I stay connected to both networks, one to monitor a server with two static addresses that I have connected to the commercial line for web hosting and vanity game server administration, and the other one because there are times when traffic on my server burns up most of the commercial pipe and I get better download rates on the personal connection. Still, I have disabled one or the other of the connections, bounced my workstation to make sure I loaded a clean TCP stack and yet still, on a fairly regular basis, the lag gets so bad a lone mudcrab can kill me.

They could use a variation on two-factor authentication with a software token built into the client, referencing a seed key securely installed on the gaming workstation.

On a side note, what the heck guys, a Mac client but no Linux client?!?!? Linux gamers have credit cards too, usually not maxxed out like 'tosh fanbois, sheesh!!!

Talk to Gabe Newell, get him to lend you guys a few of his better penguin hackers, and you've got another revenue stream, no brainer... Or was the Valve cappuchino for Skyrim not quite as frothy as you would have liked?

MIshoniko can name his ISP but I can't name mine? It really is *** (Cee Oh Ex) Communications. I know, I know, I know, but when we moved, AT&T didn't even have DSL available in our neighborhood, let alone U-Verse, and Verizon Fire Is Our Specialty? Also not available in our area, and my insurance is decent, but not that good... So cable Internet was the way to go...

I have faith in you. You have always done right by us in the past, with your previous releases, I just wish there was a way I could help troubleshoot this issue. I work in enterprise IT, and know a few things about servers, networking, etc...

Well now, it would seem my faith is well-founded, provided tonight's outage was not caused by fixes aimed at what improved vastly for me this evening. NOT A SINGLE LAG DEATH!!! That's not to say I didn't die because of poor decision-making skills, but that's a different ball of wax entirely. I sure hope youse guys get whatevers buggin the NA server whomped into shape quicklike...

Well, turns out it might be ISP connection related. For about a week now, no more lag death, plenty of dying from stupidity, but no lag death...
