I dont know how you are making money, but in deshaan most quests gave 200+ gold. some 300. in shadowfen, you will probably have plenty. I average around 7-9k gold, and I just entered shadowfen, so clearly you are doing something wrong.

The best way to save money as you level up is to never repair anything and use any type of armor you get if it gives a nice bonus.You will not have the best optimized character for your level but it works fine and optimization is a lvl50 goal . All money should go towards the mount ,bank and inventory space.
