I pre-ordered ESO but I cannot log in without setting up a subscription.

When I pre-ordered ESO I logged in 5 days early and it played perfectly fine. But Today I tried to login and it said "This account does not have an active subscription." I checked my account and I have 30 Days left of game time. I saw on the top of the page text that read, "Before we can continue, please select your subscription plan. It is required in order to play." I find it discouraging that I pre-ordered a game and I have to be required to set up a plan to play the game even though I have active time. I don't want to pay every month for the game, I don't generally play it all year so I buy game time codes. I got the digital edition so I thought that I already could play. Is it required to have a card on my account in able to play?

    Well it does tell you this in additional information on the buy now screen next to2 system requirements.

    Unfortunately, their 'wait time' on phone calls and e-mails ... is ridiculous.

    But it will not cost you anything to set up the subscription. You use the 30 days you get with the game 1st then the sub kicks in after but at that time you can cancel and go to game time cards no problem. Its always this way in mmo's.
    would ya mind if I fired me cannon through your porthole?

    I was on hold for 2 1/2 hours last night with no answer and had to go to bed for work today. Then today i called them back was on hold for 45 min and the call was just cut off. I sent in a call request 3/31/14 via e mail and never got a call. i have tried everything i can think of but nothing works i guess.

    My account is fine. I am playing this with my brother. But his account, will not allow my credit card to process appropriately, we even changed his name to my name ... (to match the card perfectly). Thus setting up a subscription doesn't always solve the problem (when it isn't possible)... This is rather infuriating actually. I finally get a day off of work to play 'all-day' then I can't ...

    Even check with my Credit Card company... they don't even see the attempted transaction ...

    I contacted ESO about it in an email stating my economic status and they game me a free 1 day, to make sure I could play.
