NOTE TO DEVS...long time MMOer here.

brandon.coker101_ESO
Just wanted to drop a line real quick and give you an opinion on your game from someone who has been playing MMOs a long time.

I love this game. In fact it's by far the best MMO since vanilla WoW imo. You guys have done a fantastic job all around and have broken the WoW clone fad that we MMOers have been getting.

I also think you have gotten an unfair amount of flack from the community and media. The thing is Elder Scrolls has some serious hardcore fans and we all know how *** the MMO fans can be so take the complaining with a grain of salt. :)

And remember the key to a successful long mmo life is content...there is no substitute. As long as you guys give us something to do and a reason to play you will get subs. Whatever that end game might be...dungeons, raids, adventure zones...sky is the limit guys.

So keep up the good work, love the game. :)

PS love the spin you guys have made on end game content...looking forward to it.

    Totally agree. Longtime mmo player since vanilia everquest. I love this game, it really revivea for me that spirit of awe from my first days in everquest.

    Honestly just fix stuff (bugs/imbalances) and you have gold. Do not take pages from blizzards playlist. Speaking the word 'assessability' in your company should be a fireable offense.

    Assessability=dumbing down.

    I agree with this post. This game caught me completely off-guard. I was expecting your average bland M.M.O, but I was pleasantly surprised. I think they did a nice job at striking a balance between The Elder Scrolls and the M.M.O.R.P.G. genre as well.

    Accessibility=dumbing down.

    Not just this, but accessibility is a word the casual crowd should learn to avoid. After all, if you're a casual player you shouldn't be having a problem with difficulty and just perhaps the time constraints (which is how accessibility works - it dumbs down content instead of working with time constraints in mind).

    Not to mention, the amount of repetitive content created by accessibility is much worse because it's how one introduces difficulty sliders into an MMORPG (Easy Mode, Normal Mode, Hard Mode, Etc.). Which again, if you're a casual player because of time constraints, the repetition of content isn't something you're interested in or should be (last I checked anyways).

    Yep, been MMO'ing since 1999 and most of my guild are 30+ and we're quite "Hardcore" (hate that word) in how we play. This game has been refreshing for eveach and every one of us, and whilst there are things we don't like or enjoy as much, we fully acknowledge that this is a very poisitive step for the genre. Gratz Zenimax...but don't stop improving! :)

    Amazing story driven quest lines, Large scale PvP, epic dungeon fights with familiar mechanics, and hard mode dungeons dont repeat the normal mode. Can wait to see Adventure zones!

    I agree. I'm still a lower level but I am looking forward to adventure zones...was a good idea to make a who raid zone in place of a linier dungeon type raid.

    Only complaint I have is that if you are here for RvR then you either take a year to level or feel like you are forced into PvE. The content is good but not why I came here. Just my 2 cents.

    Like most, I like the game, the majority of the flack they have been given though has been Valid, it's not been about the game, it's been about their failure to communicate effectively with the community.
    If you are a long term MMO player you should understand that communication is key to the relationship between the Player and the Developers, I don't think you can defend the state of these forums or the lack of communication we get.
    They will get better, but first impressions last.
    Although they have made small improvements in the communication, i.e. the Known Bugs Thread, this contained a laughable amount of bugs compared to what the community is actually aware of.
    This although a step in the right direction, it still alienates 90% who's game effecting bug is not listed by them. We are all aware that they get bug reports so they are aware of all the reported Bugs, but they are reluctant to list them as it looks bad to the press and outside world, but the don't seem to realise that not listing them looks even worse to the actual people playing and paying for the game.

    I agree about the lack of communication but I really think to some degree they didn't have a lot of answers to the questions. I think they have just been trying to figure it all out as they go really. I don't think much has ever been set in stone.

    However I disagree with the majority of the criticism being about communicating with the community (not talking about bugs but lack of info in general). From the ESO fans sure but in general, this is just not the case at all.

    Most of backlash I have seen from other sites and forum post were because it "wasn't elder scrolls" enough.

    Even today gamespot posted a review in progress saying:

    "Perhaps it's unfair to expect The Elder Scrolls Online to deliver the freedom of an offline adventure, but given its title, there's no escaping such comparisons. Certain elements of Elder Scrolls design simply don't translate to a massively multiplayer theme park, though I greatly respect Zenimax Online's dedication to immersing you as much as possible in this relatively traditional MMOG."

    This is what I have seen the most of from game sites all around. It's been the theme really.

    I too am a long time MMO player. Some I have liked and enjoyed much more than others. The best ones have content that pulls you in and keeps your interest. That content has to come regularly and maintain the quality of the game.
    Over the years I have learned to hate the concept that every class in a game has to be equal. That concept never really works, which is why I am not really a big pvp fan. That is always where the most whining takes place cause this class is more overpowered than that class etc. So pvp becomes who is best at spamming buttons as a result of the game developers caving to the whining.
    I love the fact in this game that your can design a char with multi talents though I know because the end game seems focused on pvp that will soon disappear as gamers will soon only build certain types of chars so as to rule in the pvp areas. You see that in other games all the time. Players complain.....changes are made and then suddenly every one is playing the new overpowered char class. I would hate to see that trend in this game.
    Just my two cents.
